Hidden adult jokes in cartoon shows you never noticed as a kid [PICS n VIDS]

Enjoy this naughty, nasty, and otherwise adult imagery that somehow made it into numerous cartoon shows long thought safe for children…

So… did you like Laser Time’s episode concerning adult jokes hidden in kids cartoons? We hope so, because if you haven’t heard it already you should LISTEN BEFORE you scroll down (otherwise you’ll spoil the surprises for yourself!) Assuming you’ve listened already, there were several naughty references that could only be conveyed and/or better showcased visually. Oh boy, this is fun!

Get it?! ASSSSSSSSSSS

Below you’ll find numerous instances of rapscallion writers and animators penetrating your eyeballs with humor you were probably too young to understand. Which is a shame actually, beause you probably would’ve thought it was even more hilarious back then. Oh, and thanks to the smut detectives in the YouChew forums, who supplied several of the images and videos.

BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

We played some rather ribald clips of Harley Quinn, but this bizarre clip featuring her seducing the Joker simultaneously brought my entire generation into puberty. Thanks to ChaseByKO for digging this up.

ED, EDD N’ EDDY

I wasn’t paying all that much attention to Edx3 when it originally aired, but I gotta hand it to the writers for their accurate portrayal of puerile preteens. Here’s the “Snow Job” clip:

But it doesn’t end there! Look closely in this frame and you’ll see a parental note asking the Eds, please “Don’t Touch Yourself”

And for good reason. Apparently, there’s a history of masturbation here. At least judging by the skin mags and crumpled jizz tissues under Edd’s bed:

What a jerk!

RUGRATS

Did you hear Tyler mentiona a bizarre, internal Rugrats storyboard featuring all sorts of delicious evil? Thankfully, MonocledYaoGuai managed to track it down! That Klasky Csupo letterhead makes it look pretty legit to me

Click to enlarge and see the whole horrible sequence

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS

A lot of folks suggested that Spongebob is riddled with light naughtiness that easily jetisons over the heads of tots, and as a fan of the show, I know they are not wrong. Unfortunately, Nickelodeon is so goddamned litigious with video uploads and embeds I couldn’t find one to rip and/or post. This promo, however, made me giggle with phallic delight!

Luckily, Laser Time Forum member DoucheMcGee scared up this clip of a Spongebob Suicide gag and even a light rape joke from Back at The Barnyard (at 1:20) on Nick’s official site!

CHOWDER

Please enjoy this Dick Tower from Chowder, a show I’ve seen less than once!

THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER TO THE RESCUE

We played this on the show, but this “money shot sequence” from Disney’s seemingly SFW direct-to-video sequel has to bee seen to be believed:

LOONEY TUNES

Here’s a hidden cock and balls from a classic Ralph Wolf WB cartoon! (The More You Know: Ralph Wolf looks exactly like Wile E. Coyote, but talks, has a red nose and generally combats a sheepdog.)

And just because I’m pissed that the audio got cut off on the show, here’s Porky Pig saying “Son of a Bitch.” Yes, that’s Mel Blanc and it’s very real, evidently produced specifically for annual Warner Bros. company gag reel which was never meant to be seen by the public. What, you think Pixar invented animated bloopers?!

TINY TOON ADVENTURES

If you didn’t think we were serious about a banned episode featuring Buster, Plucky and Hamton getting hammered, here’s “One Beer” in its entirety. SPOILER: They get drunk and die!

POPEYE – “Shuteye Popeye”

Just in case you thought we were full of shit, feel free to watch this clip of the hidden swear in this ancient Popeye cartoon.

ANIMANIACS

Gorgeous animation, fantastic music from a 35 piece orchestra, valiantly carrying on the madcap spirit of old Looney Tunes, genuinely funny parodies and writing – Animaniacs is amazing and holds up for many, many reasons. But for our purposes, I love how much dirty shit they managed to get away with on daytime television. HINT: When Yakko says “Goodnight Everybody!” someone’s just referenced poop, wieners, butts, sex, or tits!

THE REGULAR SHOW

I’m not terribly familiar with The Regular Show, but I did find this clip/GIF which more than meets our criteria.

Did you catch that? This is so over-the-line, part of me needs to believe it’s Photoshopped…

SAM & MAX

Here’s one we missed from the forgotten Sam & Max cartoon show. This Christmas episode contains not one, but TWO, prison rape jokes! Thanks to Doctor Treyn for bringing this to our attention.

DEXTER’S LABORATORY

According to legend, this Dexter’s Lab Dial M for Monkey/Justice Friends segment was removed from all subsequent broadcasts due to an outrageously “femmy” parody of Silver Surfer. If the audio on the show didn’t convince you, the video should prove some truth to the rumor. Or at least shed some insight on Silver Spooner’s orientation…

DRAGONBALL Z

I intentionally excluded Japanese Animation from Laser Time’s Adult Jokes in Kids Cartoons episode because A) cultural differences mean different shit flies over there, and B) the Japanese have always showed more respect to animation, historically treating it like an “Everyone Medium” a la old theatrical shorts and not exclusively for children and Christians. However, when codystovall pointed out that DBZ contains an appearance by none other that HITLER, I absolutely had to see it and you should to. Thanks, cody!

ROCKO’S MODERN LIFE

I loved this show, but I really had no idea how much naughty they snuck in unbeknownst to kids, and more importantly, Nickelodeon. Of course, Ren & Stimpy made everything seem tame, which probably distracted the censors from all the filth going into the program. Here’s the “Phone Sex” clip we played:

But it doesn’t end there! Please enjoy Rocko references to Felching!

Date Rape!

Masturbation!

And a getting your dick sucked! Heffer gets hooked up to a milking machine. Being a male, he basically ejaculates in full view of all the boys a girls…

Last but not least, RACISM! MonocledYaoGuai managed to find this allegedly banned clip featuring a heavily stereotyped “So Solly!” chinaman!

As for your other suggestions, a lot of people suggested Invader Zim and Ren & Stimpy. But hey, they weren’t really “hiding” anything…

  1. I loved Rocko as a kid. I recently watched the 1st season on Netflix and the adult jokes sprinkled throughout are pretty great, whether or not they were purposely put there.

  2. I wish I had the video but in The Simpsons episode I’m With Cupid they cut to Wiggum when he is finishing a really dirty joke. His line is ” … so then the second salesman says, “That’s okay, I just ate all the hot buttered corn.” [laughs] You like that one, baby?”

If you don’t know the joke here it is but the hobo version.

Two hobos were walking down a farm road, and passing a farmhouse, when one of them spotted two pies cooling on an open window sill.

The first hobo says to the second, “I’m gonna go ask to see if we can get one of those pies. You wait here, okay?” The second hobo nods and waits out of sight, salivating at the thought of eating some pie.

The first hobo knocks on the door, which is soon answered by an ugly old lady. “Ma’am, I spotted those pies on the window sill and was wondering if I could get one of them from you? I’ll work for it, if need be.” The old lady responded with “Follow me into the kitchen.”

Once they were both in the kitchen, the old lady said “I haven’t had a man in many years, since my husband passed away. I’ll give you both of those pies if you’ll have sex with me right here, right now.” The hobo thought about it while looking around. He spotted some ears of corn on the counter near the window and had an idea.

“Well, if you’ll just turn around and bend over across the kitchen table, I’ll take care of you,” said the hobo. The old lady, excited as she was, complied instantly by pulling off her clothes and doing exactly as the hobo said.

The hobo reached behind his back, grabbed an ear of corn, shoved it in and serviced the old lady with it for at least 5 minutes. When he saw that the kernels were all soft and wet, he tossed it out the window. The old lady screamed “More, more!”

The hobo grabbed another ear and another for the next 30 minutes. When the old lady indicated she was satisfied, she turned around and said “Okay, I promised the pies to you. Go ahead and take them. Thank you for the pleasure of your company.”

The hobo grabbed the pies and headed out the door and found his friend near the window sill. “Hey,” he said, “here are the pies. Let’s go eat.” The other hobo looked at him and said “No thanks, I’m full. I just ate a whole bunch of hot buttered corn.”

    1. i got one: the “222” joke in franny’s feet on the fire station episode with the fire hats. there’s a picture of this too.

    1. That gif is NOT from the original series of Ren and Stimpy. It’s from the adult party version, which is filled with sexual references and nudity. There is actually way worse stuff than what you just saw

  3. Woo! Got Sam & Max in there.

While I’m sure you’re fully aware of the site, Chris, I really must refer you to TVtropes.org, if you haven’t already been. I’m a smorgasbord of naughty/practical cartoon and film knowledge, and this particular page should fit right up your alley. Right up in there. Especially for this particular topic.
(Deepest apologies if linking isn’t allowed in the comments)

  4. You haven’t seen Chowder? I have only watched a few episodes (29 y/o) but its pretty damn good. Pretty unique animation with overlaying textures on many of the scene objects and characters. Also, Chowder lives in a bong. I mean its got a removable bowl and everything. Sometimes the bowl is smoking. Couldn’t find a photo of it online though.

    1. Also Gorgonzola on that show basically has an abusive father. Tons of other stuff on that show might’ve made it on here but was kinda not bad enough. btw never noticed they live in a bong

  5. Woo hoo! Got 2 on there.
But my word, that fucking Little Toaster clip with the computer, I can’t even listen to it by myself without feeling embarrassed. How did they ever get that through?! What the hell was my mother and farther thinking when I watched it with them?!

  6. It’s funny how much of this went over my head as a kid, being at the right age where this is all from these shows were the first shows I’d watch in elementary when I got home.

From what I have heard, there was an entire banned episode of Dexter’s labratory where DeeDee was cloned and running around the house swearing. I believe that at one point either DeeDee or Dexter called their mother a Bitch.

But again, I was in elementary when most of these shows were on television, so my memory might be abit off.

    1. That’s rather famous rumor is referred to as “Dexter’s Rude Removal.”

      Everybody google it.

Also, Chris, I hate to mention this, but the Ed Edd & Eddy “snow job” clip isn’t one of the cartoon’s various innuendos. The literal definition of the phrase ‘snow job’ is basically “A very convoluted attempt at scamming somebody,” which is the main premise for the entire show.

  7. Also the Regular Show .gif is fake. Unfortunately.

Although it’s not really all that far off from what they get away with on the air.

I feel like such a party pooper. 🙁

    1. THE CERATOR SAID IN THE CARTOON MAKING PROCESS THAT REGULAR SHOW IS FOR 10-18 SO FOR KIDS AND TEENS AND ADULTS BUT MORE FOR TEENS AND ADULTS THAN 10 11 12

  8. the Silver Spooner segment was never banned over here in Ireland, I saw it wen it 1st aired and ive even seen it on Cartoon Network round 6 months ago 🙂

  9. Goddam I want Animaniacs on dvd or something, how were cartoons so damn awesome in the 90s?
Oh, wait, because I am in my 30s…

  10. Adult Party Cartoon tried too hard. Ren and Stimpy were funny when certain things were merely implied in the Nickelodeon days. The newer episodes were way too “in your face” to be funny, not to mention they drag on for too long. The only APC episode that I find remotely funny is the one where Ren acknowledges that he has rage issues and goes to a therapist (Mr. Horse). Probably because it actually feels like a proper Ren and Stimpy episode.

That said, I’m still amazed at the stuff they managed to get on Nick. I still remember seeing this episode as a kid and wondering how it made it on.

  11. Huh, I always thought it was Wile E. Coyote hunting sheep, playing a different part, what do you know?

Animaniacs can get to be a little too much nowadays. Too many celebrity impersonations that no one now would recognize. I still love Pinky and the Brain, though.

  12. That Rocco’s Modern life clip of the “Chinaman” also suggests hotel sex.
The “No-Tell Motel”. “All night?” says the hotel owner to Rocco’s and Heifer’s request since the hotel is just used for quick sex. And then the banging in the end.
    I love that show.

    1. DID YOU KNOW THAT THE CERATOR OF ROCKOS MODERN LIFE SAID HE WASNT WRITING FOR CHILDREN AND THE EXCUETIVES AT NICKLODEON SAID THEIR FINE WITH THAT

  13. I remember johnny bravo had an online list article of his favorite pick-up lines, one of which was something like “Do you know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a johnny pop?”

  14. Anyone else notice on the “Dexter’s Lab, Dial M For Monkey” clip, when it pans over everyone eating at the table, the guy next to Agent Honeydew…is staring her down like “Yeeaahhh” as she goes to put the hotdog in her mouth!

  15. The Regular Show one is DEFINITELY photoshopped.
In the actual episode, he’s handing out fliers advertising a horror movie showing.
I’m pretty sure Cartoon Network would definitely not allow something like that. it’s way too obvious.

    1. REGULAR SHOW WAS FOR 10-18 AS SAID BY THE CERATOR IN THE CARTOON MAKING PROCESS AND NOW ITS CURRENTLY AIMED AT EITHER 10-14 OR 10-13 BECAUSE THE CERATOR SAID IN AN INTERVEIW THATS ITS RATED TVPG SO ITS NOT FOR LITTLE KIDS THEIR IS A RATING AND WE GETAWAY WITH ABOUT AS FAR AS YOU CAN GO UNTIL THEIR LIKE WERE NOT GOING TO GETAWAY WITH STUFF THAT FAMILY GUY GETSAWAY WITH

  16. The Regular Show one is shopped. They’re actually passing out flyers for “Zombocalypse 3D”. There is plenty of not-so-hidden innuendo in the show, however. Along with Adventure Time, it’s pretty much restored a lot of faith in modern animation on TV.

  17. In fairly odd parents timmy says something like “it all went well apart from cosmos spastic shark costume ” in the on we’re they had to make a movie or so,something and Cosmo wanted to do jaws

  18. One of the episodes of Rocco’s Modern Life starts with the guys sitting around playing the “Spank the Monkey” board game.

  19. I noticed this one a couple of years ago. I remember watching it as a child and not even noticing this, but watched it again a few years later, and Spongebob, the dirty bugger, is watching porn

  20. REN AND STIMPY DOESENT REALLY COUNT BECAUSE BOB CAMP SAID WERE NOT AIMING THE STUFF AT LITTLE KIDS REN AND STIMPY IS FOR EVREBODY ALTHOUGH KIDS DO LOVE IT
BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES IS FOR TEENS AND ADULTS
REGULAR SHOW IS FOR 10-18 AS SAID BY THE CERATOR IN THE CARTOON MAKING PROCESS AND THE CERATOR SAID IN AN INTERVEIW THAT ITS RATED TVPG SO ITS NOT FOR LITTLE KIDS THEIR IS A RATING AND WE GETAWAY WITH ABOUT AS FAR YOU CAN GO UNTIL THEIR LIKE WERE NOT GOING TO GETAWAY WITH STUFF THAT FAMILY GUY GETSAWAY WITH
ADVENTURE TIME IS FOR OLDER CHILDREN 12-13
MAD WAS FOR YOUNG TEENS BUT NOW ITS FOR TWEENS AND TEENS
THE LOONEY TUNES SHOW IS FOR TWEENS AND TEENS
SYM BIONIC TITAN IS FOR TEENS
    ROBOTOMY IS FOR TEENS
SECRET MOUNTAIN FORT AWSOME IS FOR TEENS
THE PROBLOME SOLVERZ IS FOR TEENS

  21. I’ve been watching Chowder as a sort of nostalgic thing, but I noticed in the episode “Gazpacho Stands Up” when Chowder is trying to learn to write, there are different scene pictures where the situation is represented by the letter (for example, there’s a letter W with muscle arms doing a body slam on Chowder in a Wrestling ring, so the W stands for Wrestling). In one of the pictures, it shows Chowder walking into a dark alley with a terrified look on his face, and it looks like he is being followed by the letter R, as in R for Rape. I couldn’t find it on youtube (I’ve been watching on Netflix), but here’s the picture, http://users.content.ytmnd.com/b/e/7/be7bf38e0838e60f9592d4957713f007.jpg

I’m sure there’s way more, I just noticed that one so far.

  22. In regular show benson says,” we used to have balls in this old ball room!” And rigby says,”bug balls? Teehee!” (Mordicai hits rigby) …..

  23. I can’t remember the episode numbur but when mordicai and rigby run from sum1 and they bump in2 benson and his gum-balls drop and he yealls out 2 mordo and rigbi and says “hey come. Back here and help me pick up my balls haha”

  24. Yeah they may hide dirty things but they are still good and I have watched many of those shows and maybe 3 that you have I would call dirty. Regular show, spongebob squarepants, and ed,edd, and eddie

  25. In a sponge bob episode thy found a pearl. A guy asked if “he could have a closer look at the ball” and Patrick says “we were just going to start playing with it”

  26. Dial M for Monkey also has a classic hotdog staredown scene from the guy next to Agent Honeydew. You know what’s up!

  27. it is sad how I didn’t know this when I was little I still love the cartoons because I grew up with them

  28. In the film Robots there is one part of delivery of the child robot in a box. The mother robot gets home and says “oh dear I have missed the delivery” and the father robot replies “its ok, making the baby is the best part” haha coincide? I think not lol

  29. In tiny toon adventures the dad gets hit in the balls and says “Now you are gonna be an only child!”

  30. I’m sure someone has probably already commented on this but the Regular show one is really over the line and actually not real. It was in fact photoshopped. I googled the episode and the flyer said “Zombacalypse 3D” however I did get a laugh out of that gif xD

  31. I remember seeing an episode of ” The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy “. They mention a nerdy / dorky kid’s mother & how they NEVER see her. They sneak into the kid’s house, & find that the entire basement has an Egyptian tomb motif, implying that his mother is a reanimated mummy & that necrophilia was involved. Which of course, was the case !

& in the early 90’s there was there was a ” Kid’s ” show called ” Mummies Alive ” wih a reanimated female mummy who is – by living standards – hot. They never imply that she’s actively seeking a living boyfriend, but she does have a brief affair with the Egyptian god Apep / Apophis, who appears as a young human male motorcyclist in his mid 20’s ( ” Pepped With Good Intentions ” ).

  32. There’s also a SpongeBob joke where SpongeBob says:
    “Patrick, your genius is showing!”
And Patrick covers his crotch and says:
    “Where?”

Also, there’s a whole episode focused on SpongeBob and Patrick learning a curse word!

  33. Remember that episode where Bugs Bunny and Yosemetie Sam were fighting (again)? And then Sam was put in jail with his new, gay inmate? He was sitting on the bench, grinning, and beckoning Sam over?

Prison rape on Looney Toons. :O

  34. anybody who’s watched franny’s feet should know about the one in fire station episode. look at the hats. the hats read 222. codiene. narcotics. drugs. very clever, cathy and susan.
