Top Amazon releases for Apr. 10th

The week’s best media releases are… basically the worst ever.

Holy shit, what a boring fucking week for modern culture! The most notable new releases this week are as few as the are depressing, so I absolutely refuse to give away a $20 Amazon gift certificate because… I dunno, what would you spend it on anyway? However, clicking through any of these links is 100% safe, and you can then buy anything else on Amazon and help Support Laser Time. Also, I would like to encourage bargain hunters to look below for upcoming video game pre-order bonuses and in-store credit, AND you should really check out the VIDEO GAME MEGA SALE Amazon’s having on about 150 downloadable titles. Saints Row 3 is $24, Serious Sam 3 and The Darkness II is $12, plus great shit like LA Noire, GTA IV, Darksiders, both Dragon Ages and the Red Faction sereies are all $5! The games activate on both Steam and Origin if that sweetens things for ya (and it should!)

The Darkest Hour
It’s been reported that this movie is dumb as absolute shit, so of course, I cannot wait to see it! If you need further proof that Hollywood has no new ideas, here’s its lastest original concept for a disaster movie: An monster movie starring doomsday… energy? Or at least that’s what it looks like from the trailer- a bunch of 20-somethings battling a rogue Ghostbusters Proton Pack, or something. It promises aliens attacking Moscow, but really, who gives a shit? The incredibly bad reviews for this one are the only reason I’m remotely curious.

Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir
Wow, is this really the ONLY notable game being releases this week?! Had I known that, I would’ve made sure to check it out at PAX this weekend, since it was the ONLY thing Nintendo had at its booth that wasn’t already for sale. I just figured “Camera” + “Ghosts” = “I get it, who cares.” Oh well, it’s shouldering the entire medium this week so it’s Spirit Camera’s week to lose!

The Iron Lady
It’s really hard to argue with Meryl Streep getting an Oscar, even though I really wanted Rooney Mara to win for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. After all, it’s pretty much tradition for the Academy to award an actor for giving a really good 90+ minute impression in an otherwise forgettable movie at least once a year, so Streep took that shit unapologetically for her portrayal for what I believe is either the Queen of England, The Prime Minister of Magic, and/or the administrator of District 12’s Hunger Games. Let’s hope that next year’s Oscar will go to that guy from Will and Grace for his uncanny Larry Fine impression in the upcoming The Three Stooges movie!

A Trip to the Moon (Fully-Restored)
This should probably be the Pick O’ The Week simply because people will actually remember it in five years. In fact, doing the math, A Trip to the Moon has already stood the test of time for over a century! Of course, you may also may recognize it either from Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight” video (starring Mr. Show alum and the voice of Spongebob Squarepants!), or the incredibly moving ending to Hugo, which featured Ben Kingsley as its director. I like it very much, however, I won’t pretend to have watched it since studying film in college. It’s a bit pricey, but a must-buy for film buffs.

Infinite Stratos Complete Collection
Hey, kids! Do you like ANIME?! Well, this is, if I’m not mistaken, Anime! And looky there…

Sekiri: Complete Series
And so is this! Man, wouldja look at all this Anime – HO BOY! (I’m not making fun, I just don’t know fuckshit about either one of these. Sorry)

  1. Jesus christ, if you knew anything about british history you would know that Meryl Streep was playing the role of the Ambassador of Narnia; most famous for destroying Hobbiton and killing all the Wombles in the great siege of Coronation street.

    1. Based on Jim Sterling’s talk it’s a shitty fatal frame with a book. A book used a AR card with much needed lighting for a horror game

  2. Ha I totally remember watching A Trip to the Moon in my high school film class. It’s hard not to be amazed how far film has come in a little over 100 years. I would have bought this blu-ray but it seems the reviewers on Amazon are saying the audio is out of sync. :/

  3. I think I’ll avoid this shit sandwich of releases and pick up Driver: San Francisco for 20 bucks on Amazon. I’ve been playing it from Gamefly and its a ton of fun.

  4. Chris I don’t use Amazon a lot as I am a poor student but I do purchase games from there every now and then. Any chance you could add just like a singe link at the bottom of the page to the UK amazon homepage somewhere on your site so I can purchase through there so you guys get a cut. Or do you only get a percentage if it’s for US amazon? Not too bothered either way just a way for you guys to maybe get a little extra money or something.
