Can you survive this tough batch of WWE predictions? If so, you can win your choice of song on the next Popcast! Read on to see how!
Hey all! If you haven’t heard on Cheap Popcast lately, I’m made a monthly tradition of predicting the results of a pre-determined event! The reader who makes the most correct predictions gets to pick the song that plays at the conclusion of next month’s episode of Cheap Popcast! First, though, a recap of the Hell in a Cell predictions. For the first time ever (I think), I got more right than wrong, going 4-for-6. However, the winner of this month’s prediction’s thread did even better, as ShowMeYaKitties went 6-for-6. SMYK chose the theme for Japanese wrestler Satoshi Kojima, so that will close the Survivor Series episode.
Here’s how it goes. I’m going to make my predictions in this here article, and then open up the replies to you awesome listeners. You will then pick a winner (or if you’re feeling risky a rare draw/double DQ) for each match (don’t worry about getting the finish right, I’m just looking for winners), and then, just in case there’s a tie for correct predictions, pick a running time for the final match listed (the presumed main event) as a tiebreaker. For ease of predictions, you only need to pick the correct side that won in the Survivor Series elimination matches; there’s no way I could possibly figure out a mathematical formula to include those. But heck, if you want to get super-granular and pick the elimination order, go right on ahead! I’ll read ’em anyhow!
What does the winner get? Well, you can make your mark on the next Cheap Popcast episode by choosing the next show’s closing theme. Pick the wrestler theme and include a YouTube URL to a wrestler’s theme alongside your predictions (including the running time of the final match listed) and I’ll give you a shout-out before throwing to our episode-ender. Let’s kick off the predictions!
THE MIZ VS KOFI KINGSTON
Thank the gods, Miz is heel again. However, the only less-effective heel move than betraying Kofi is betraying Miz, so we’ll have to see some dastardly tactics from Miz for the move to take, so I say he wins and “injures” Kofi. Miz pins Kofi..
IC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: BIG E LANGSTON (CHAMP) VS CURTIS AXEL
The title changed on Raw, couldn’t the rematch have taken place there too? Hoping Big E can bring some legitimacy to the belt, so I think he’ll go over strong. Langston pins Axel.
SEVEN ON SEVEN DIVAS ELIMINATION MATCH: TOTAL DIVAS VS AJ’S TEAM
AJ seems to be a lock to hold onto the title for a few more weeks, since WWE is being smart and not throwing the title on a Total Diva just to boost that show. However, that side needs SOME momentum, so I say Total Divas win.
TRADITIONAL SURVIVOR SERIES MATCH: THE RHODES BROTHERS, THE USOS, AND REY MYSTERIO VS THE SHIELD AND THE REAL AMERICANS
Boy, that was a mouthful (and I didn’t even try with the Divas match). Why don’t they have traditional team names anymore? Anywho, this might just be my favorite match on the card. I’m hoping it will provide a breakout moment for someone, be it Cody or a member of The Shield. However, I’m thinking Cesaro’s push starts here (too early for a face turn), so he’s the sole survivor as The Shield’s team wins.
CM PUNK AND DANIEL BRYAN VS ERIC ROWAN AND LUKE HARPER
Punk and Bryan certainly could have used a higher-profile match than the second-and-third-ranking Wyatt team members. They also could have used better opponents. I have no doubt that Punk, Bryan, and Harper will pull out some good spots, but overall, besides laying the seeds of their Megapowers teamup before they explode (at say, WrestleMania) (for like 25 minutes?). Punk and Bryan win.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: JOHN CENA (CHAMP) VS ALBERTO DEL RIO
Yawn. I couldn’t tell you a single interesting development in this feud that has happened since Cena took the title last PPV. Cena had great heat with Sandow for a minute, but DS is nowhere to be seen so we have this predictable match. Cena wins.
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: RANDY ORTON (CHAMP) VS BIG SHOW
Oh boy. What a pair of turkeys for main events, eh? I think Orton has to hold the title for awhile to make his eventual loss such a big thing, and the only think worse than Bryan not getting a title push is Big Show getting one instead. Sadly, this main event has to last til Rumble, I’d bet, so Orton pins Show at 20 minutes.
Alright, there’s my picks. Sound off below with your match predictions, (including the Orton-Show running time) as well as a YouTube link to your wrestler theme pick. Good luck, everyone!
