Are you Extreme…ly good at sports entertainment predictions? Then you might get your choice of wrestler theme closing out next month’s Cheap Popcast. Read on for Dave’s picks and then make yours!

Hey all, back again with another round of Cheap Predictions! As we’ve been doing for awhile now, the reader who makes the most correct predictions gets to pick the song that plays at the conclusion of next month’s episode of Cheap Popcast! First, though, a recap of WrestleMania’s predictions. While I would normally be ashamed of my 3-for-7 outing, the rest of the predictors fell in the same range due to the unexpected outcomes of the Battle Royal and Taker matches. This time around, four people tied for the top slot. While AwkwardLoser deserves credit for being the only person to predict Lesnar breaking the streak, aimbotmaster picked the closest running time for the main event, missing the actual time by just over a minute. He chose a classic; the Insane Clown Posse’s “The Greatest Show,” best known as the theme for the Oddities.

Here’s how the prediction contest goes. I’m going to make my picks in this here article, and then open up the replies to you awesome listeners. You will then pick a winner (or if you’re feeling risky a rare draw/double DQ) for each match (don’t worry about getting the finish right, I’m just looking for winners), and then, just in case there’s a tie for correct predictions, pick a running time for the final match listed (the presumed main event) as a tiebreaker.

What does the winner get? Well, you can make your mark on the next Cheap Popcast episode by choosing the next show’s closing theme. Pick the wrestler theme and include a YouTube URL to a wrestler’s theme alongside your predictions (including the running time of the final match listed) and I’ll give you a shout-out before throwing to our episode-ender. Let’s kick off the predictions!

WEE LC MATCH: EL TORITO VS HORNSWOGGLE
Boy, I hope this is not indicative of what we’ll be getting out of pre-shows in the post-PPV era. At least it’ll be the only match on the card subject to a commercial break. Sadly, I am fully up-to-date on this feud and know that Torito already has a victory, so I predict Hornswoggle wins..

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH: JACK SWAGGER VS RVD VS CESARO
Cesaro’s been on a roll since WrestleMania, taking on a better mouthpiece of a manager in Paul Heyman. RVD’s current run has been a bit lacking, so I don’t think he has the need to continue his upward momentum. Combine that with the fact that Cesaro’s already beat his ex-tag-partner, and I think his hot streak continues. Cesaro wins.

HANDICAP MATCH: R-TRUTH AND XAVIER WOODS VS ALEXANDER RUSEV
Okay, last month I thought the Taker match was a sure bet, but this one is even more predictable. Rusev’s just debuted, and Truth/Woods have been pretty hapless as of late. Rusev wins.

DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: PAIGE (CHAMPION) VS TAMINA
Paige just won the title, which I don’t see the WWE taking off her for some time. I also don’t see any legitimate challengers besides AJ, and her bodyguard doesn’t really pose a threat, IMO. Paige wins.

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: BIG E (CHAMPION) VS BAD NEWS BARRETT
This is a bit of a tough one. I think it’s a bit too soon to take the strap off Big E, but Barrett’s in the midst of a big push. This hasn’t worked out well for him in the past, but I think fourth title win is a charm and Barrett wins.

STEEL CAGE MATCH: JOHN CENA VS BRAY WYATT
Cena won where it mattered (where he shouldn’t have, in my opinion). Wyatt’s due a win, and the fact that they’re touting the Steel Cage will keep the family out (despite the fact that a ring of fire and an Elimination Chamber haven’t worked), I predict interference causes a Bray Wyatt win.

EXTREME RULES WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: DANIEL BRYAN (CHAMP) VS KANE
I’m a little worried that Bryan’s about to embark on a Punk-like reign where his title matches are never in the main event, but I’ll let it slide for this first month. Kane’s looked like a chump for the past half-year, and I don’t think a few weeks of badassery is enough to fix that. This should be a pretty insane match, but lets not pretend this is something it’s not; Daniel Bryan wins.

THE SHIELD VS EVOLUTION
The Shield is just getting their second wind. Batista will likely take some time off in the next few weeks to hype his new movie. Triple H probably won’t wrestle again until Summerslam. Unless there’s plans to draw this out another month, I think Evolution’s reunion is short-lived and The Shield wins at 20 minutes.

Alright, there’s my picks. Sound off below with your match predictions, (including the six man tag match’s running time) as well as a YouTube link to your wrestler theme pick. Good luck, everyone!

  1. El Torito wins in what should be a MOTY Contender
Cesaro wins with Neutralizer and pins Swagger
Rusev wins with a Camel Clutch at like 2 minutes.
Paige wins with a Scorpion Cross Lock at about 4.
Barrett wins with the Bullhammer at 7.
Bray Wyatt wins via Escape at 16.
Bryan wins with Running Knee at 18
Reigns pins Orton after a spear to win at 23.
If I’m right then how about the Mankind exit theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EROJk8tD218

  2. Could be that we’re all WWE “literate” but I agree with about 90% of your picks Dave. (Also could you mention the little known fact that Golga from the Oddities was actually Earthquake in a mask. I know you guys briefly talked about the ICP Xbox games on retro-naughts but we can never get enough of the Jugglo love/hate.)

    MY PICKS
Hornswoggle wins (here’s hoping for mini tables mini step ladders and mini chairs)
Cesaro wins (Swing RVD…Has he done that yet? Maybe Haymen and Zeb Colter mix it up?)
Rusev wins (He still needs to be seen as more dominating.)
Paige wins. (Like you said she just got the belt, but it’s Diva’s division so who knows?)
Barrett wins (I didn’t like it at first, but #Bad News has really caught on and I say it all the time now.)
Cena wins (He’s got fruity pebbles to sell! And a belt to win! But I’d take a 100 loses at this guessing game if it meant we get Heel Cena. Or at least a mildly-depressed Cena.
Daniel bryan wins (After being the super-bandaged underdog at Wrestlemania Hell NO! He won’t be losing here.)
Evolution wins. 24 Minutes (SHIELD has the crowd around them, but this will be the match that shows that “The Legends’ still have it”

If I keep the streak and win, could you play Jake The Snake’s 2nd theme please. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bXUWsBcbSA (Does it sound a bit like the Moon level in Ducktales or is it just me?)

    1. My follow up review

Even though Hornswoggle lost, the jokes in the Wee L C match more than made up for it. ( I marked out uncontrollably loud when I saw the mini tables. And then even louder at the HUGE ladder!)
In the Cesaro match every one seemed in low gear, (or perhaps HIGH gear considering RVD and Jack Swagger might have become best ‘buds’ backstage.) The ref seemed to three count twice.
Loved Rusev doing the Bald Bull’s charge (from Punch-out) against R-Truth
Bad News Barret The ending to this match made me realize how much I dislike ‘flash finishers. Big shows punch. Etc. Rko, and the Stunner are fine, but just punches or elbows (Cesaro’s elbow excluded) fall flat for me.
Sheild VS. Evolution a.k.a The bald brothers. Evolution’s spooky scary skeleton shirts they were wearing backstage were soooo funny. But seriously this was A GREAT match! Evoultion were great heel tactics, and brawling out of the ring is also cool to see. Jeresy fans were acting like jabronis holding their phones though.
Cena vs Bray Wyatt (Wow what a promo before this match. Awesome video package.) Wacky wacky cage match. Was Bray Wyatt doing the upside-down spider walk to the door hilarious for anybody else? THE WORST ENDING EVER!!! I would be physically ill at that ending if I bought this for $60. CENA’S MENTAL BREAKDOWN IS HAPPENING RIGHT IN FRONT OF US! FIGHT CLUB TWISTS AHEAD! Cena didn’t save the kids ;,(

Diva’s match. Both wrestlers were awesome, but do they have to grunt louder than a women’s tennis match?

Kane and Bryan. Holy Crap loved the return of Attitude Era level backstage brawls. Flaming table spot felt a little rushed…Didn’t like that the ending implied more KANE V Bryan.

      Overall 8/10 Pay Per View

Also, I’m happy to know that Motorcycle ridin’ American Badass Undertaker will live on as a WWE lego-knock off minifig.

  3. Lets see if I can be a winrar.

    My picks,
EL TORITO will take out hornswoggle, popularity helps you win in these matches.
Cesaro wins, he is on a big push right now. (RVD should not even be in this match)
Rusev wins because nobody even knows the other guys.
Paige wins pretty easy because she can carry a match.
Big E wins because Barret needs a better finisher.
Cena wins because we can’t ruin the hopes of the make a wish foundation kids, I mean seriously they have it bad enough as it is.
Daniel Bryan wins since Kane is not what he once was and HHH has better things to do.
    SHIELD wins at 26 minutes,

If I win I will pick a song that is sure to help Panty Richfordsonsteinberg get his jewish girlfriend which is Barry Horowitz theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5eR7sUbfBo

  4. El Torito gets the jump on Hornswoggle
Cesaro goes over Swagger & RVD
Rusev decimates R-Truth & Xavier Woods
Paige bends Snuka in half for the win
Bad News for Big E, Barrett wins the IC belt
Wyatt wins over Cena after a creepy spider walk
Daniel Bryan beats the odds & Kane
Evolution takes the victory over The Shield in 22 minutes

My Song: “Line in the Sand”-Evolution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cad2JYi4F0I

    1. I might be the only one, but the Evolution theme just sounds like a slowed down version of The Rock’s theme to me
