Cape Crisis #115 Question: Did you dress up as a comic character for Halloween?

  1. The collectability of modern comics is pretty much nil so it bothers me that prices are not volatile. Comic prices should decrease substantially after a month or so.

  2. Okay, I forgive you guys for being a week late to talk about this piece of news, but mainly because Brett’s in this one, definitely want to hear what he’s got to say about the subject as well! ^^

    1. I think Brett’s absence in the past couple of months have had less to do with any kind of personal reasons or possible conflict, and more with the fact that these particular months are famously packed and hectic for people that are members of the videogame industry.

Besides, what little time Brett had for podcasting was probably reserved mainly to record VGMpire episodes, and in those you can see both Chris and Henry in there. Which further proves it unlikely that they have gotten in any big fight or conflict.

…Then again, far as I know, Capcom doesn’t have anything big planned for the remainder of this year, and their biggest release this year is arguably Strider, which is great but still just a downloadable game…. So one does have to wonder….

  3. Damn excited to hear the Phase 3 news. Personally, I couldn’t be happier with the MCU right now although I do really want to see a Ruffalo Hulk solo movie soon as well as something with Hawkeye and Black Widow.

  4. My Halloween has been a depressing time because of my breakup of a long term girlfriend I had and along with a shit load of graphic design projects that needed to get done. However, I managed to put together a cheap costume of Marv from Sin City. I put bandages all over my face and wore a trench coat over my white under shirt. Not the best costume ever, but I didn’t have to motivation to make anything else.

  6. Just watched the special look at age of ultron, and Thor’s look when cap moves the hammer is great.

Also the Naruto manga finished this week (after 15 years).

    1. Yeaaaaah, I got over it. But it was reallllly hard. I have a problem with fanboys. I have literally ended years long relationships over my disgust in another person’s disgust when it reaches 11. I don’t ind disagreeing but once it turns into insults because it isn’t YOUR Superman or YOUR Spider-Man. Wah. All I can say is “wah”. I forget what helped me get over it. I know Chris kinda got on my ass a little on here and since I stupidly hero worship him as the funniest man alive, I took his advice to give Henry a chance. Also, best punster next to the man; Mike Kaplan is Dave Rudden. Love those transitions and puns.

      1. Episode was great until he kept trying to say Marvels film announcement was better done and Dc just did it for shareholders, never bringing up that they had more time and were able to go after Dc.
        I prefer Bretts fairness.
Yeah why did Marvel have to announce their whole schedule, they didnt have to.
Even Joss Whedons like, can we focus on about to come out movie first.

        1. Yes, agreed. And give DC their due, we know the basic gist of the movies, but now that Captain America 2 is Civil War and Infinity War is as expected that takes a lot of the surprise out of Age of Ultron and we have to wait AGES for what we want now..

Conversely we know there’s two Justice League movies coming, but we have no idea what’s in them. For now, I prefer it that way! I’m still in shock that I’ve got over a year to wait until Batman V Superman, I don’t want to get excited NOW over Infinite Crisis or Blackest Night or whatever in 2017!

Marvel had the better show, but it all felt like they were actually trying to one-up DC and have now locked themselves in until 2019 with no flexibility.

And I’m very angry at the dick move of basically attempting to smother Wonder Woman with both Guardians 2 and Thor 3. Now DC have to move the release date, to which Marvel fanboys will go “they blinked!”. Is that what we’re up against now we have comic book movies dominating the box office? Release Date Dickishness?

          1. I agree Cody and Tingler. On all points. I did laugh how everyone was like, why did Marvel release so much? Well for one thing maybe I am cray cray. MAYBE I AM NUTS. But isn’t it just a little funny that Marvel’s plan goes to 2019? DC’s shit was just put out there and what does Marvel do? A goddamn event. With shit to 2019. DC’s is 2020. This all screams of let’s one up the competition. Don’t get me wrong. If you like both like myself you win more than anyone. DC should be paying very close attention to how Marvel is doing things. And again, maybe I’m crazy, they should think of ways to do it differently. Do it their way. We can debate if it is better or not. But doing a joint universe movie series and telling a cohesive story is not easy and it should be pretty cool if they can do it. I feel DC is in a precarious situation that “fans” will shit on them no matter what DC does. From “copying Marvel” to “too different” to “not Marvel enough”. I hope they can do good. They don’t have to be the best, just make some good profit and tell some cool stories. It’s a spot I do not envy. Regardless, DC finally showed their hand. Marvel oned them up as Marvel has a tendency to do. I don’t think that was coincidence.

  7. My fiance and I dress as scott pilgrim and ramona flowers. We wanted of coura e to do a coed themed costume and I do believe we pulled it off very well.

  8. Hanry said, “South of the border” a couple times, and it didn’t prompt him to croon, “down Mexico way.”

My little brother had Marvel cards when I was a kid and most of what I know about Marvel is from them, since I’ve never read too many comics. Hearing the stories on this show is like that, I get enough from hearing the guys talk about what’s happened, and don’t think I’d really enjoy having to read (and pay for) all these books. It doesn’t seem like that much has really changed in 20 years, though, from what I remember.

  9. I dressed up as Robin, and my 2 year old went as Batman. My wife went as Batgirl, which I’ve been trying to get her to Cosplay for as years since she is in a wheelchair. My Dad dressed up as Joker.

Here is us without our masks. You can tell Batman is ready for a solo adventure:
