Monday Night Movie September Schedule

Set aside some time at the top of your week and let’s watch a movie together in September! Ninjas, Jedis, War Boys and more…

Hope you’re aware of Monday Night Movies at this time. We’ve done freebies for our entire audience with Terminator 2, Back to The Future, and Power Rangers: The Movie. But in case you don’t know, this is where we stream a movie viewing with you guys and it works quite similarly that vidjagame streaming all the kids are talking about. It’s available exclusively for Laser Time Patreon members for the low cost of $5 a month, which also nets you a bonus weekly Laser Time, a weekly episode of Talking Simpsons, and sticker shipped to you quarterly (more on that soon!) Enough pluggery, to the schedule!

MAD MAD: FURY ROAD – September 7th
Buy on Amazon | Digital Download
FINALLY! The biggest surprise of the summer is now available on Blu-ray, and on-demand, and I’ve been absolutely dying to give this a second viewing. There are a billion reason to love George Miller’s transcendent racepocalypse, and I hope to find a couple more this Monday. My first screening had me clutching my heart and swooning like a teenage girl in the front row of an Elvis show, so join me and see if I can keep my shit together on camera.

THE LAST DRAGON – September 14th
Buy on Amazon | Digital Download
SHO NUFF! This movie scared me so bad as a little kid, it took me years to give it another shot. I honestly hope many of you will join us for this one because it’s a fucking blast if you haven’t seen it. I’m sure someone will have a more elegant description in the comments, but this is part 70s ninja movie, part blacksploitation film, 80s as all fuck, and might have one of the best soundtracks of any action movie ever made. It’s The Last Dragon’s 30th anniversary, it has a brand new Blu-ray and I strongly urge you to jump in and watch even if you’ve never heard of it before. Peep this trailer and get curious:

COMMUNITY CHOICE – September 21st
This is where we let Laser Time Patrons in the $10 tier pick the movie we screen. Stay tuned, voting will begin soon. Feel free to start suggesting films in the comments!

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith – September 28th
Buy on Amazon | Digital Download
With the most unfortunate parts of the Star Wars canon behind us, it’s smooth sailing from here on out. Although… I get the feeling this movie, long hailed as “the best” of the prequel trilogy, doesn’t hold up as much as I remember. Let’s find out together! Because we’re rewatching EVERY Star Wars film on Monday Night Movies once a month leading up to December 15th’s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Any dork worth his weight in BB-8 plastic is probably thinking of doing the same damn thing, so why not do it with ya boys from Laser Time? (Or gals, in the case of Diana who joined us for Episode II!)

Pretty great list, eh? But remember… next month is October. HALLOWEEN! And remember, all you need to join us on Monday Night Movie is to own a copy of the movie (shopping through our Amazon links helps us, but lemme know if anyone needs a crash course in “alternative methods”) have a stable internet connection, and donate to our Patreon at the $5 level. If it ain’t obvious, I’m having a blast watching movies with you guys. I know we’ve had some technical sharts here and there, but group viewing are something I look forward to every week.

MONDAY NIGHT MOVIES begin every MONDAY @ 6:00 PM PACIFIC TIME (unless stated otherwise) exclusively for Patreon members at the $5 level

  1. Speaking as a patron I want Chris to put one of the original five Planet of the Apes films up for vote, preferably which ever one he calls the worst.

  2. Shows you how damn cheap I am when a $5 rental makes me cringe. I might end up watching Fury Road three times in a 48 hour period lol.

    1. The convenience is worth it to me personally, and it’s actually not too far off from the prices Blockbuster charged ten years ago. And remember, there’s always Redbox (a little cheaper) and piracy (the cheapest!)

      1. Redbox is usually missing half of the new releases that come out nowadays. They and Netflix still have this weird deal with some of the movie studios, that prevents them from renting out their movies for 30 days. (I actually have Netflix Streaming and DVD atm) Unfortunately, Fury Road is one of those, but I will happily rent through Amazon. I assume you benefit from a rental if I use your links?

Funny note: My town still has a Blockbuster. It’s owned privately, so they can stay open indefinitely and they seem to be doing decent business. It’s been on the same corner for about 20 years.

  3. I am going to keep beating the drum of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World for community choice until it happens. Also, we are one month closer to me joining you guys for a Star Wars movie. Almost…there… Almost… there…

  4. Finally, i get to watch some good movies with you jerks

side note – AM I THE MEANEST ?

  5. i hope we will actually get a chance with COMMUNITY CHOICE this time, once you put the idea of PeeWee in everyone’s head it was a given.
Charlies Angels: Full Throttle, Catwoman, Elektra or X-men the last stand 😀

  6. i’ll try and make an exception to stay up for fury road because i love that movie. i wish you guys tried to do it an hour early at least.

  7. Thanks for the heads up, now I know what movies to have ready. That Last Dragon movie looks ridiculously bad, can’t wait 🙂

  8. My suggestion for Community Choice is Hot Fuzz. It just nudges out Sean Of The Dead as my favorite of the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy (Plus it’s on Netflix atm). If not Hot Fuzz than Sean Of The Dead. A quick note. Not to be that ahole, but I feel the Community Choice movie voting should happen two weeks an advance instead of a week before. I feel it’s only fair to give a full week to Patrons to prepare a copy of the movie. Especially if your a dinosaur like me who occasionally still uses physical discs.

  9. I suggest the Robert Carlyle /Guy Pearce film Ravenous. It’s from 1999 and a black horror comedy. A bunch a guys in a 1850’s Canadian fort go full wendigo and beat the shit out of each other. Being wendigos, they get amped strength and crazy healing factors. There’s a whole lot of mindfuckery and during the final fight, they throw everything at each other: knives, guns, rocks, sharp sticks. Maybe a better pick for Halloween month…
