With less than a month to go, the now has its first extended look at the Netflix series that reunites the Mr. Show crew…
It has been a long 16 years waiting for a fifth season Mr. Show to appear, and no number of reunion tours, books of unused film scripts, or constantly rewatching the DVD commentaries can fill that void. Well, in a month, as we near the 20th anniversary of Mr. Show’s premiere on HBO, Netflix will release a five episode long followup, With Bob And David. Here’s the new trailer, giving us our first extended look at the show.
All those sketches with Bob and David definitely have the same feel as classics like Ronnie Dobbs and Taint, though I’m guessing that legal BS will prevent those characters from actually appearing. Bob Odenkirk and David Cross even seem to start off the shows the same way, though now they’re among the audience instead of on a stage. Sharp-eyed Mr. Show fans will also notice series alums John Ennis, Jay Johnston, Jill Taley, and Scott Aukerman, as well as new faces like Keegan Michael-Key and Paget Brewster. Now the wait for the November 13 debut on Netflix feels even farther away.
But this month long wait is the perfect excuse to revisit Bob and David’s greatest hits, or even watch all of them for the first time. Do you only know them from Breaking Bad or Arrested Development, and don’t where to start? Take advantage of my comedy nerd guide to Mr. Show and its legacy.
