Welcome to the first ever public episode of Talking Simpsons! I’d say “congratulations” but it’s more like “THANK YOU!” because it was your support via Patreon that made it possible in the first place. If you’re wondering why we’re starting with the first episode of the second season, that’s because the first thirteen Season One Talking Simpsons episodes are and forever will be exclusively available to those who made the show a reality. You can access them any time here by becoming a Laser Time Patron.

Our hope is to launch a new episode of Talking Simpsons each and every Wednesday. iTunes, Zune, and other links will be updated as the feed is generated and approved.

“Join your friends at the Laser Time Podcast Network for a chronological and cromulent exploration of the greatest show ever made! Each podcast tackles a different episode of The Simpsons, breaking down every 22 minutes of animated entertainment into an embiggening discussion about Our Favorite Family.”

  1. Strangely enough, despite not being all that funny, I think this episode really struck a cord with many people who themselves may have had issues at school when they to were kids.

  2. so happy talking simpsons is back! this is probably one of the few episodes that a lot of people can relate too, i was never a straight a guy, mostly c’s and d’s and maybe surprisingly the odd b, but thankfully never an f, but we can all relate to bart i think in the part when he tries to study, and just gets upset for not succeeding. theres parts of this episode that get too real.

  3. I love the fact that a discussion of an episode of the Simpsons can draw quotes about another episode of the Simpsons

  4. yay so glad its back for season 2, sooner than i thought!
anybody not a patreon get on it! season 1 has some great laser time moments

  5. Glad to see Talking Simpsons back so soon, as the season one episodes were very interesting and a fun analysis of a Simpsons show that was still not in its prime. However, now that we’re in season two, it will fun to see the Simpsons morph into the series that everyone in LaserTime loves.

    Also: “Wow! A Bob Mackey!”

  6. yaaaaaaaaaaay!
glad everyone gets to hear these now.
hopefully we’ll get more of the other LaserTimers to show up to process their love and express their knowledge of the Simpson’s
    yay!

  7. Any possibility of the podcasts showing up on Stitcher sometime? 🙂 Would be really awesome to just easily stream from my phone in my car, haha

  8. In honor of the people who have supported Laser Time for months already, and got all the first season Talking Simpsons, can this show at least not have a commercial crammed into it, asking for support we’ve already given? Is there ever any thought given to where to put commercials? Some of them are smashed in between two sentences of a story, a little forethought would be nice, if we have to have the commercials. It’s not just Laser Time shows, either, there are other podcasts that just seem to need to put them in at exactly half an hour, or something.

    1. I have supported the patreon since day 1 and I think the ads are needed. The Simpsons are a popular topic and this could bring in new listeners that may not know what the rest of LaserTime has to offer. Plus the breaks have even more references so what’s not to love, and I like the placement they’re like a mini cliffhanger.

      1. The ad in this episode was only for Patreon, no interesting extras. Maybe they’ll add more stuff into the breaks, like other shows do sometimes, but I’d still rather have the same flow as the earlier ones, or a version for people already supporting. If the show is made leaving a spot for ads, it’s not so bad, but Laser Time frequently has very badly placed breaks that interrupt the flow of the show. I still enjoy listening, obviously just a little forethought would improve it for me, and Henry and Mikel do a good job of setting up breaks.

  9. Happy to see that season 2 is live and available for all!
Just waiting for it to show up on Podcast Addict, where I get the other LT shows on mah android phone.

  10. I was always an overachiever, but I had a lot of attention issues that I still deal with to this day, I have ADHD and no longer take medication due to cost. When I was younger I would study a lot but was also easily distracted, which sometimes lead to issues. I like to think this episode taught me that even if you do bad on a test, it isn’t the end of the world. Even now if I screw up and make a bad mistake, I will remind myself that it is minor in the whole grand scheme of life. I don’t know if that was the moral they were trying to tell with this episode, but its what I got out of it, and that helps a lot.

Glad to see non-patrons will get to experience the joys of talking simpsons.

  11. Just so you guys know, there’s totally a wrestling episode of Simpsons. Season 24s “Gorgeous Grampa”.

  12. To lock the first season behind a paywall is BS and will turn people away from the podcast. Find some better reward for Patreon donors, instead of giving the middle finger to those who don’t decide to donate money.

    1. Glad you like the show (I think?) but rewarding those who supported us and helped launch an ad-free show is absolutely not the same as insulting everyone who didn’t. Entitled much?
