Jessica Jones’ Full Trailer Looks Like Marvel & Netflix’s Creepiest Collaboration

Jessica Jones Marvel Final Trailer Creepy Purple Man

After a mountain of teasers and cast photos, here’s over two minutes of footage from Marvel’s super private investigator…

It’s been months since Daredevil showed comic nerds and binge watchers alike that Marvel;s film world can translate beautifully to the smaller screen. Now, after a shitload of teasers, we get our first real look at Jessica Jones, Marvel and Netflix’s second collaboration. It looks like a faithful adaptation of the comics, which also means that it appears to be even more adult and disturbing than Daredevil. Take a look…

Yup, that’s the self-hating, superpowered, hard-drinking Ms. Jones comic readers have loved for more than a decade, and Krysten Ritter’s gravelly voice goes a long way to portraying Jessica as having been through some shit. Plus, Luke Cage seems pretty promising in this trailer, though will he already be super powered, or will that happen in the course of this season? Hard to tell from this trailer.

What is clear from this trailer is that David Tennant’s interpretation of Zebediah Killgrave (aka Purple Man in the comics) is definitely a major creep. Honestly, I’m a little shocked that they’re diving straight into Jessica’s past with Killgrave, as that plot element is very gradually revealed in the Bendis/Maleev books. The former Doctor Who’s portrayal of the mind-controlling monster is fittingly unnerving, though will the show take the character as far as it goes in the comics?

The world will get to blow through the entire season in a few weeks when it premieres November 20, though you can read our review of Jessica Jones episode one if you want an early idea of it. Plus, you could always grab some of the books the show is based on, if you want a cheat sheet on Jessica’s life.
