Hey, do you like listening to stuff? Do you love the chill of October? Tis the season for Halloween-ing, and you probably want set the mood for something kooky, spooky, and altogether ooky. Allow me to suggest these great listenable treats from around the net.
First off, the NoSleep Podcast is a great start for the month of October. The show takes fan-written short horror stories from its Reddit forum and gets voice actors to perform them, complete with sound effects and spooky tunes. Some stories can go a little far, so they include content warnings for the faint of heart.
Instead of a horror-specific podcast, why not try Halloween-centric episodes of other great shows? I highly suggest checking out Stuff You Should Know, as they do Halloween episodes every year, things like how haunted attractions work. Or you could skim one of their other very informative podcasts about creepy subjects like body farming. Or if you hate being such a scaredy cat this time of year — BOO! — why not try to conquer your phobias by understanding how fear works?
You know that awesome guy Neil Degrasse Tyson? Did you know he has a podcast called StarTalk Radio? Well, he does, so why not start with his spooky science episode, all about the history of ghost hunting. You called also try the pseudoscience episode, part of his Cosmic Queries series, in which he answers questions from listeners about a topics like Bigfoot and Ouija boards. You should also probably check out his interview with Dan Aykroyd, about (what else?) ghosts.
Finally, if you want a humorous take on macabre subjects, you should check out the Last Podcast on the Left. They cover everything from serial killers to monsters to strange places and goings-on around the world. They do a good amount of research into their topics and don’t shy away from the most gruesome of details, so if you’re into dark comedy, this is a must-listen.
Listener beware, you’re in for a scare! For more spooky sounds from your friends at Laser Time, check out the Classic Horror Theme Quiz podcast episode, or grab the 80s Halloween Pack movie commentaries.

Not to sound like the Bay Area elitist liberal that I am, but This American Life has a rerun of a pretty good Halloween episode that went up yesterday.

As a fan of spooky folklore I have been really enjoying Lore. If anyone wants some “true” ghost stories Jim Harold’s Campfire, Real Ghost Stories Online, and Anything Ghost are worth checking out.
Great, no mention of Monster Parties. Fuck me once again!
Thats what part 2 lists are for :3
