Charlie Kaufman & Rick And Morty’s Producers Made A Movie – Watch The Trailer

Anomalisa

Funded by Kickstarter, this impressive team-up looks like a must-see film…

Charlie Kaufman wrote some of the oddest and moving films of the last 20 years, including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation, and Being John Malkovich. Starburns Industries has worked on hilarious comedies like Rick and Morty, Morel Orel, and Community. Thanks in no small part to crowdfunding, they’ve come together to make one of 2015’s most well-reviewed films. Take what’s possibly your first look at Anomalisa.

This one really took me by surprise, though the world has known about this production since 2012. Back then Anomalisa was merely a play Kaufman produced under a pseudonym, but he wanted it to be his first ever animated work. He teamed up with Starburns Industries, the L.A. based production company behind many modern claymation shows and special episodes. Take a look at the Kickstarter pitch video they made all those years ago.

Quite an impressive looking production, especially for a company named after one of Community’s sleaziest characters. The KS money looks to have been worth it based on the buzz ahead of its theatrical release this December. I’m definitely looking forward to it making me cry about a life wasted and/or have tears of joy as hope for a better life is rewarded. It’s usually one or the other when it comes to Kaufman and his many flawed toys, whether they’re live action or not.
