Vidjagame Apocalypse 145 – 2016’s Most Anticipated

Welcome back for another year of VGA! As has become tradition ’round these parts, we begin the year by looking ahead to five games we’re really excited about. (There isn’t a whole lot that’s been revealed about some of these, though, so it’s a short segment. Then it’s on to a quick look at Amplitude, some quick laughs about the Star Wars “RPG” Kicstarter and other news that’s erupted while we’ve been away, and a rundown of your favorite games of last year.

Question of the Week

Which game are you most looking forward to in 2016?

  1. Beyond a few titles, I’m not even really sure what’s out in 2016 so I’m curious to see what you guys choose.

  2. I just heard you read my comment about Codename STEAM and the kickass use of amiibo is made even worse when you also consider that unless you have a new 3DS you had to get the adapter THAT ONLY CAME OUT HERE RECENTLY! So even though I had the Fire Emblem amiibos I still could not use them. On the plus side though, as for the animations Chris mentioned, Nintendo actually patched in a fast forward option.

  3. I’m gonna call out No Man’s Sky for my most anticipated, however the more they start detailing how it actually works as a “game” I become a little hesitant. I was on board years ago when it was just infinite exploration fueled by crazy math but with the more systems they explain it becomes a little more boxed in.

Here’s hoping an infinite universe can have infinite possibilities beyond upgrade trees and resource mining.

  4. QOTW. Mother fuckin’ DOOM! Playing Wolfenstien New Order and Old Blood showed me the over the top shooter still has a place in this new generation. The idea of getting the double barrel shotgun again and shoving down some imp’s throat give me a case of the vapors. Also I don’t care if Tolkien wouldn’t care for my use of “chomp” if he’s so smart why didn’t his ghost stop Peter Jackson from turning his tiny ass book into an over bloated trilogy?

  5. I was super hyped about Street Fighter V until they got through the character list and neither Adon nor Sagat made the first cut. I’ll probably still pick it up and try to main one of the new characters like F.A.N.G. or an Alpha classic like Rainbow Mika. It is nice knowing that I won’t have to pay actual money to unlock the characters I really care about when they are finally added.

  6. QOTW: Most anticipated game of 2016 is, right now atleast, X-Com 2 or as I like to call it Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day Resurgence The Unofficial Game of the Movie. REIDTUGM for short. All joking aside that game looks dope.

  7. QOTW: I am most excited about No Mans Sky or the The Devision or The Witness…. or Dishonored 2… Yeah one of those…
