The Monday Night Movie February Schedule

February MNM 2016

February has FIVE Mondays this year, and we’ve got five movies to watch along with all of you!

Wow, January just flew right by, didn’t it? Well, now we’re in the longest January in four years, and we’re ready to watch movies alongside all of you, all the way until Leap Day! Now, we’re assuming you know all about Monday Night Movies, but if you don’t, it’s the weekly viewing party of old films we do with fans, as you can see in our commentary for Terminator 2, Back to The Future, and Power Rangers: The Movie. We select a different film each week and live stream our fan commentary every Monday at 6PM Pacific, exclusively for Laser Time Patreon members who pledge as little as $5 a month, BTW, that paltry $5 a month also nets you a bonus weekly podcast, the first season of Talking Simpsons, and much, much more, so why not treat yourself?

We built this month’s schedule around upcoming films and holidays, though don’t expect any romantic comedies, sorry. Maybe next year we’ll finally do Sleepless in Seattle…

Groundhog Day

GROUNDHOG DAY – February 1st

What better way to celebrate a holiday than by viewing one of Bill Murray and Harold Ramis’ best films? Can a man living the same day over and over again see it as a paradise, a personal hell, or an opportunity to learn and grow? Why not all three? Supported by Andie MacDowell and Chris Elliot, this is one of Murray’s best films ever, with Ramis doing some rather underrated and introspective film making. Watch along to see if we see our shadows.

Green Lantern

GREEN LANTERN (THEATRICAL CUT) – February 8th

Deadpool marks Ryan Reynolds’ return to comic book films, so we’d be remiss to not watch his… less successful journey from a few years back. Brett, Chris, and Henry are all on record saying they liked this film, but will they say the same watching with 2016’s hindsight? That alone will make this worth watching!

Zoolander

ZOOLANDER – February 15th
Buy on Amazon | Digital Download

Zoolander was a film born from a VH1 fashion awards show sketch, making it one of the most dated films of all time. Yet it was so prescient, like giving Will Ferrell a featured role or introducing the world to the duckface pose. The sequel arrives this month, so now it’s time to revisit this cult film and see just how well it compares to modern day comedy.

COMMUNITY CHOICE – February 22nd

Just as we did all the other months, we’re doing the usual community choice, and with no guidelines either. Sure, last month’s choice via the Laser Time Patrons in the $10 tier was dominated by a couple of high profile deaths, but hopefully we’ll be able to have some more normal, less morbid, choices this time around.

Happy Gilmore

HAPPY GILMORE – February 29th
Buy on Amazon | Digital Download

Leap Day must have driven us bonkers, because we’re actually watching an Adam Sandler film. Why? Well, this was one of the first ones we really loved, and because it turns 20 YEARS OLD THIS MONTH. Has the golfing comedy and Sandler’s yelling held up over those two decades, or was the film secretly just as bad as Adam’s last 20 movies? We’ll be watching with bated breath to find out.

THIS IS OUR PATREON!

We hope this crop of Monday Night Movies got you jazzed for February. And just to make it clear, if anything as big as the death of David Bowie happens, we reserve the right to change this schedule on the fly. Hopefully it never comes to that though. Again, if you want to join in, donate to our Patreon at the $5 level. Just to have it all clear in bold text…

MONDAY NIGHT MOVIES begin every MONDAY @ 6:00 PM PACIFIC TIME (unless stated otherwise) exclusively for Patreon members at the $5 level

  1. I’ve never seen Green Lantern yet and probably never would without some incentive so this is perfect.

And Groundhog Day is such a beautiful film. Whenever it’s on I watch from where it’s at or just leave it in the background but I never tune away.

  2. Since Street Fighter 5 is coming out February 16th, I think Zoolander should be replaced with the live action Street Fighter movie.
