Vidjagame Apocalypse 154 – Sssnakes!

We get an early jump on St. Patrick’s Day this week, with a hiss-heavy segment celebrating five videogame snakes that Ireland’s patron saint would doubtlessly have run out of the country on a rail. We then snap right back to the present with a look at The Division, Rise of the Kasai on PS4 and Hitman; wallow in the sad sagas of Lionhead and the Coleco Chameleon; and dig into the best games you never played the DLC for.

Question of the Week

What’s the oldest game save you have that you still hope to return to someday?

  1. QotW: Tiger Woods Golf on Wii – I made several custom golfers with the character creator that looked like the result of decades of inbreeding combined with exposure to nuclear fallout. Some of them also wore cowboy hats, because that was an option. The mid to late 2000s were all about having friends over to golf on real life golf courses as the world’s most hideously ugly golfers.

  2. I have an old game save file that I keep but NEVER plan on revisiting. I had the full Pokémon first gen experience, I went to an all boys Catholic school so break times were rife link cable trading and battles.
Due to Action Replay carts every Tom, Dick and Harry had a Mew, but monsters like Gengar, Golem and the starters were harder to come by, I eventually tricked enough freshman gamers to bag all 151 pokemon and became a Pokemon jock. I carried the cart around from place to place for years.
I even kept it when I had no system to play it on, during the Gamecube era I gave up playing videogames when I discovdered casual sex.

  3. Wow, I got my forum answer and my comment read on the episode. I should get an achievement or something for that.

  4. QoTW: I have a Castlevania : Symphony of the Night save from its original release. This file contains numerous playthroughs, speed runs and glitched maps. Most importantly it contains my Muramasa level data. The Muramasa is a unique sword in SotN that independently levels up from Alucard based on how much blood you absorb. There is no known limit (i think) to how strong the sword can get, so over the years i resume grinding the sword just to see how far i can take it. Its been a year or two since i revisited ,but I’m always thinking about it. I hope to give this sword to my grandchildren someday.

I still have a Zelda: A Link to the Past on my Wii that I plan on getting back to and finishing sometime soon. If I can stop trying to kill the chickens and focus on the last dungeon.
