Gears Of War 4 Trailer Enjoys The Sound Of Silence

In the tradition of previous Gears trailers, this one is musical, though it remindsss us instead of our new favorite meme…

We just got Xbox’s first big exclusive of the year in our hands (that’d be Quantum Break) but now it’s time for Gears of War 4, the long-awaited true sequel and the first one not developed by Epic Games. There’s a brand new trailer for it, and surprisingly, it’s a farming sim starring Marcus Fenix…

Just kidding. Despite the happy-ish ending of Gears 3, things are back to horrifying normal on Jacinto. Meaning, it’s still about human tanks blasting people in a ruined world, all set to incongruous music. Take a look.

Now, obviously this nice little trailer is meant to remind players of the good old days, like the series stirring debut trailer…

But, despite this being a cover of the Simon & Garfunkel original, I can’t be the only one thinking of this Arrested Development gag turned dank meme, right?

Did you feel the same way? Did that inspire you to pre-order the game before the October 11 release? Are you ready to play as Marcus’ sandy-haired son in Gears of War 4? And is Sound Of Silence now stuck in your head all day? Tell us in the comments!

  1. I actually went immediately to Sad Affleck but maybe that’s just because it’s been very pervasive recently (and it’s hilarious).

    1. Also, on a second viewing, not only does Marcus’s wife not look like Anya but Marcus himself seems to have lost a lot of muscle weight. He actually looks somewhat human and not like a roided out tank of beef.

  2. After playing Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, it’s interesting to see Gears of War 4 go back to the original Gears design of being a mix of action and horror. The horror elements are very noticeable in the first Gears, as I read that it was originally supposed to be a horror game. Also, the fact that story takes place during a 24-hour period should make for an intense, creepy ride.

  3. Worked on dis guy because I had zero intrest in another gears game till I heard that sweet cover by Disturbed and was Immediately invested. Even my wife walked over and was like “what are you watching?” So over all I think its a worthy successor to Mad World.

  4. So I assume I’ll be playing as Marcu’s kid, kinda makes me more interested in this. I was originally kind of meh on returning to Gears after 3 and that spin off. If it’s getting back to it’s roots and is going to be more like Gears 1 though, I can get behind that.
