  1. I’ve never had Ecto-Cooler and now that I’ve lived through hundreds of people tell me how great it was and it makes a return, it doesn’t come to Canada.

  2. @JJBSterling – You’re not missing anything. It is a Hi-C fake juice/sugar water made for children with dumb taste buds.

Imagine drinking Tang mixed with orange Gatorade. Ro be drank while eating Hot Pockets.

    1. Also – Surge continued to exist after it was discontinued in the form of the drink Vault. Surge was originally a European drink called Urge.

And maybe it’s a Midwest thing, but the only places around here that carry Donald Duck OJ is the Dollar Tree. I literally had never heard of this brand until this past year. It’s not that great, but in a pinch, it’s okay orange juice.

  3. Great episode! Chris, I can confirm having a 8 & 10 year old brother they have no fucking clue what the Flintstones are, but they’re obsessed with family guy (and Simpsons just not as much)

  4. No mention of the long long time use of Dennis the Menace (US) by Dairy Queen? That thing went on from 1977 to 2002

    1. Yeah, and no mention of the Flintstones shilling for DENNY’S either. That was how I knew of the restaurant when I was a kid. Hadn’t been to one until long after they stopped using the Flintstones.

  5. Ecto Cooler is actually tangerine / citrus flavored.

For my wedding last year, one of the things I put on my registry was a Snow Cone Maker. Not the Snoopy one, but one that runs on electricity. Same principle though, you put in ice cubes and shaved ice comes out into a catcher. It really brought me back to using the Snoopy Snow Cone machine as a kid.

It’s actually great for making frozen drinks like margaritas.

Even though it is infinitely easier to use than the Snoopy version, I have still only used it like twice.

  6. Did I really live in a era where a cartoon character told people they’re going to die from malnutrition because they didn’t have a candy bar?

  7. You guys had mentioned Garfield, but was surprised no one mentioned the Garfield Ruggles Ice Cream ads. “Scoop scoop, yum yum, Ruggles Ice Cream premium!”

  8. Hey guys, long time listener, first time poster. Just had to leave you as quick story about Ecto Cooler. In 2004, I found an unopened box of it, shoved in the back of my then girlfriends freezer. It was dated ‘1992’. I took it, with her permission. I put it away and then basically forgot about it. In 2008 I rediscovered it while moving. I promptly sold it on eBay for…get this; $300.00

First time in history a juice box was shipped with insurance.

  9. I think you guys forget that Flintstones wasn’t a show for kids but adults too. It was the Simpsons of the time. That’s why they had ads for cigarettes and beer.
