1 – Jack Swagger vs. Baron Corbin – Pre-show match
Thinking Corbin takes this and then the two feud throughout the month. It could honestly go either way since neither has much going for them at the moment, but I lean slightly towards Corbin cheating Swagger out of a win.
PICK: Baron Corbin
2 – Nikki Bella vs. Carmella
Assuming Carmella cheats Nikki out of a win and this rolls onward… Nikki is popular enough to run a “team” in Survivor Series so maybe they blow it off there?
3- Curt Hawkins vs. Debut Opponent
Unless the debut opponent is friggin’ #Broken Matt Hardy I can’t imagine a newcomer gets the win when Curt is also kinda-sorta debuting? I wasn’t watching when Curt was in action so it’s hard for me to get a read on this. You don’t keep the opponent a mystery unless you want a huge pop / surprise, feelgood moment, right? But without more info I’ll just say Curt wins and then…
PICK: Curt Hawkins
4- WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. The Usos
Rhino’s election obligations may finally pull him away from the ring for a month or more, so this seems like the right time for The Newsos to sneakily obtain the belts and perhaps begin a slow-ass build to a Big Match with American Alpha.
PICK: The Usos
5- WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler (Title vs Career Match)
Hoo boy. Lots to consider here. Miz is on a roll and there’s no compelling reason to see this reign end, but the “career” stipulation is pretty strict and a Ziggler loss means, well, he’s “done.” Does he take a behind the scenes role? Does he re-debut at the Rumble with some loophole to get him back in action? If you’d asked me at any point in the past year about a Ziggler career match I would’ve 100% bet on him losing, but this program with Miz has genuinely renewed interest across the board. Makes me think Ziggler wins and the two continue a hot feud through the end of the year… because why ship Ziggler off right now, in the non-Road-to-Mania months when ratings are low and heat is at a premium? If the feud is working, they should keep it going in lieu of any other hot acts. SO – I’ve talked myself into thinking Ziggler wins and Miz loses his Shiz.
PICK: Dolph Ziggler
6- Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
Bray wins because Randy is bulletproof, and because someone will help Bray win. We may see him actually win a feud but I still don’t think he’ll win clean or on his own. Hard to say when Rowan’s out, Harper is probably on RAW and Strowman is squashing gnats left and right, but yeah, Wyatt takes the win even if it means spoopy swamp magic.PICK: Bray Wyatt
7- WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss
I would love to see an upset here, and have Bliss work on her already solid heelin’ for a month or so, but I’d be very surprised if Becky lost the title this soon. Maybe some interference that moves the belt to Bliss, and then they fight for it? Honestly that sounds more interesting than Bliss blowing it and then, uh, demands a rematch she hasn’t earned? So yeah, let’s go with Bliss winning just for the sake of keeping the title scene interesting. This also gets the belt away from Becky such that she can have a big win at Mania – which is six months away, yes, but ehhhh a slow build is great for face victories.
PICK: Alexa Bliss
8- WWE World Champion AJ Styles vs. John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose
Cena ain’t gonna tie Flair’s record on a B PPV, plus doesn’t he have to leave and film a B reality show soon? Dean getting the belt back is kinda whatev, and Styles is still a ton of fun to watch. So Styles retains and perhaps Orton or god forbid Wyatt slide into the title picture for a bit?
PICK: AJ Styles
