One of my favorite Nintendo behaviors is its insistence on naming games after their platform – think Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii and so on.
So with Switch in the mix, will we see titles like Mario Kart Switch, Kirby Switch and so on? Or will Switch mirror the GameCube and offer unique names like Double Dash, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and Super Mario Sunshine? And if Advance Wars ever returns… would it be Switch Wars?
Let’s speculate as we explore Nintendo’s generational naming conventions!
Someone already pointed out Zombie U in the comments as another example of the Wii U-specific designation, so that’s a fun one too.
As with some of my other “casually explains” videos, this isn’t meant to be an exhaustive, thorough account of every instance of Super, Advance, 64, DS etc PLUS all the weird deviances AND times that Japan/US/EU names didn’t line up… it’s just s’posed to be fun!
Appreciate any/all shares too, as these custom vids take a long ass time to make and are practically done “after hours” since all our shows & streams fill up normal work hours.
Give these a look too!
