Golden Years – Vidjagame Apocalypse 300

Wow! We somehow made it to 300 episodes! In keeping with tradition, we do away with our usual format this week and grab friends of the show Brett Elston and Dan Amrich for a heated roundtable discussion to pick the best years in gaming history. Will your favorites come out on top? Will anyone be happy with the results? Is this just five old guys getting nostalgic about games? The answers may or may not surprise you!

Question of the Week:
Between Kingdom Hearts and Resident Evil, tell us which franchise you prefer, along with your favorite moment or memory from it.

  1. Congratulations on 300!! Hard to believe it’s been 300 episodes already, honestly.
I’m a youngin’ I suppose and my favourite year for gaming was 2007. Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Rock Band, Assassin’s Creed, The Orange Box, Mario Galaxy, I could go on but it was a hugely formative year for me personally and my taste for games. Excited to hear what Brett and Dan think!

  2. Congrats on hitting 300 episodes, guys. You’re officially -102 episodes away from beating TalkRadar’s record. Here’s to episode 199, and beyond!

  3. Congrats, guys. I like Matty Allen’s personal “chronicle of the year” approach to this. You’re never going to scientifically nail down the best years. It’s just too subjective.

  4. I agree with Brett. Matt is all over the place with his “list every damned thing that happened or released in that year” approach. How does everyone talking about Steel Battalion’s giant controller when it released form an argument for that being the greatest year in gaming?

The mere fact that Floigan Brothers was mentioned should have gotten Matt’s mouth duct-taped for the rest of the show.
