Top Amazon Release – Wallet Recovery Edition

Less crazy than last week, but it does contain two of my favorite THINGS ever…

Super 8
I really liked this. And I mean that in the strongest way someone can really like something. After all, Double J genetically engineered this puppy to appeal specifically to people like me: Kids who grew up watching E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind AND grew up in the households they depicted. The third act falters a little bit for me, but it’s certainly a thrill for those weened on the aforementioned Spielberg flicks.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Oh, man… Thought I could resist this one for the time being, but no HD, waggle-free, Wii U port of a left-handed Link can dull my anticipation (no matter how likely.) It’s getting great reviews, but I thought I could ignore the siren song (of Storms) due to the glut of other great games out there, but I don’t think I can hold out. Plus, if I don’t finish this, there’ll be TWO console Zelda’s I haven’t finished existing simultaneously… and that’s something that’s never happened in the history of Nintendo and me.

WWE ‘12
 360 PS3  | Wii

The bestest, ding-dang wrestlest game in the whooooooooooole wide… okay, I don’t know jack turds about this game. I imagine it contains more wrestlers! Oh fuck, MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE DLC = BOUGHTED. For further incentive, it looks like Amazon’s discounting the thing pretty steeply brand new.

Probably in my top five films of all time. The more you can relate to the ambitious shitheadery Max Fisher, the more you can relate to misfits like me. This is Wes Anderson at his least precious, and least formulaic. I’ve got a lot of love for this film, and Bottle Rocket, mainly because Max is infinitely more relatable than the angsty aristocrats that populate his Anderson’s later films.

Kindle Fire

It’s taking all the anti-dork strength I can muster not to buy this thing. I, like most of you, desperately need a tablet, although can’t honestly list a single reason why. The reviewers have mixed opinions, primarily due to it not being an iPad. however, it seems like an absolute, super-cheap no brainer for folks with active Amazon Prime and Audible accounts.

Three Amigos

Jesus, how can I recommend this… See Pierce from Community in a comedic Western! Hmm.. Okay, it’s not one of my favorites but I certainly like it. But if you don’t already like it, I sincerely doubt you will now. However, if you do love the misunderstood adventures of the Amigos Three, they’re not asking a lot for a 1080p version.

King of Fighters XIII
 360  |  PS3

Another game I don’t know much about, but I have seen it in motion. It’s beautifully animated, impenetrably Japanese, and hilariously racist. Not too racist, but just amusing enough to be its defining attribute. Mike Grimm knows what’s up.

Sonic Generations

The 3DS version of Sonic’s highest scoring game in ages! Strange thing is, normally the hedgehog’s portable counterparts perform better critically than the console versions. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the case this year, although not by much. Wow… Two precedents, DEFIED!

  1. For the life of me, I can’t guess what the two things are.
Also, I thought you loathed J.J. and all he’s done? Or does that only go for Lost?
