Seven Psychopaths

This is a great movie with a stellar cast. Colin Farrell plays a screenwriter whose best friends drag him into the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles after they steal a gangsters prized dog. Martin McDonagh (writer and director of In Bruges) is a master of modern dark comedy.

Fire Emblem: Awakening

We won’t pretend to be experts on the series, but the coming of a new Fire Emblem is a good thing indeed, especially when the gap between release here and Japan looks to have been one of the longest in the series history. I’d call it an otaku’s delight, but then Nintendo just went and announced a crossover with Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei, so that’s likely put some considerable cream on your buckles.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2

Wow, I still haven’t seen Part 1 of Frank Miller’s animated adaptation, which appears to be so chock full of testicular fortitude it had to be split into two digital Horcruxes. By all accounts, it was a damned fine translation. Better still, this one appears to be even better, or at least far darker and more brutal. Can’t wait!

Paranormal Activity 4

Ghosts and shit. Or is it witches this time? I don’t know. I imagine it’s basically the same thing as the other three. It starts out slowly. Lights turn on and off. Things move. Someone gets dragged out of bed. Everything is somehow miraculously caught on a handheld camera. Some people die in the end. It’s all very mysterious and spooooooky. You already know by now if this is your scene.

Die Hard: 25th Anniversary Collection

FUCK YEAHHHHHHHHHH. BRUCE WILLIS AHHHHHHHHH. YIPPEE KI-I DON’T WANNA PAY ANY ROYALTIES! By this point in your life you should already know all about the Die Hard movies, but if you don’t or just have never seen them, now is your fucking chance. The 25th Anniversary Collection contains Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Live Free or Die Hard, and Die Hard Decoded- a bonus disc tribute to John McClane, the all-American hero.

Flight of the Navigator

OMG BEST MOVIE EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR! Seriously, that’s a recommendation. You may remember this amazing little film from Laser Time’s epic, two-part journey through cinematic Time Travel, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you simply must. I don’t know why the hell it’s over $40, but to be completely honest, I’da paid twice that!

All Superheroes Must Die

Also called Vs, All Superheroes Must Die is… not a great film. It looks like it was filmed by bored college students and the actors act like bored college students. However, it does have an interesting plot. Four superheroes are stripped of their powers and thrown into an abandoned town where they must rescue one hundred civilians by playing a supervillain’s crazy games. If you can get past the lackluster acting it’s not a terrible film.

Shorts International Presents: Oscar Winning Short Film

This collects nine incredible short films from the past decade including God of Love, The Danish Poet and The Lost Thing. I’m a huge lover of short films and these are truly some of the best ever made. This set is releasing just in time to watch them all again before the 2013 Oscars start up on February 24th.

Best of Warner Bros. 50 Film Collection

Suuuure, this collection is expensive BUT it contains some truly awesome films spanning from the 30s to today. Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, Dirty Harry, Clockwork Orange, The Dark Knight, Inception, and a shitload more in one amazing bundle. As if that’s not enough, the collection also includes two documentaries on Warner Bros. and a limited edition poster. If you or someone you love is a cinephile this is essentially a dream come true.

Hitman Trilogy HD Premium Edition 360 | PS3

This collects the first three Hitman games (Hitman: Contracts, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and Hitman: Blood Money) as well as an art book with twenty-two pieces of never-before-seen art. All that for $39.99. Not a bad deal.

Hotel Transylvania

This film may have looked like a steaming hunk of dogshit, but it went over pretty damned well with the film goers and was a pretty substantial hit at the box office. Not that that’s any indication of quality, but even if you’re tired of watching Adam Sandler and his buddies coast through film after film, any movie that groups together classic Universal Monsters is alright with me.

  1. Holy crap! I watched Flight of the Navigator so many times when I was a kid, but I haven’t seen it in years. Looks like I’ll be getting that one.

  2. I looked at the contents of that Warner Bros collection, and that is a magnificently eclectic set of films. I almost want it just so I can have The Wizard of Oz, A Clockwork Orange, and The Hangover all in one box.

  3. Wow, I didnt realize that the Die Hard blu-ray was all the films… 😀

Flight of the Navigator gave me nightmares. Pissed my pants when ever I thought about the movie when I was a little kid.

  4. I just got the Flight of the Navigator DVD and now the Blu ray is out! Jeez, 40 bucks though uhhhh my PS3 up converts the DVD just fine. I am always in need of comics though.

  5. Fire Emblem looks cool, but there are soooo many games coming out, I think I may have to skip that one. DS3, maybe Aliens:CM, Sly 4, Metal Gear Rising: Revengance, Rayman Legends, Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Judgment, Bioshock Infinite… my wallet is begging for mercy!

  6. A New Fire Emblem, YES!!!! That and Zelda are my two favorite nintendo series, I’ve had it on pre-order from the day it was available to pre-order. And the demo was pretty great.

  7. So i haven’t had internet for a coyple weeks and ive just been uaing my mobile network to download podcasts i click on this article and learn about smtxfe what the fuck happened?

  8. Wow, Seven Psychopaths is coming out already? I’d wanted to see it in theaters, I guess I’m seeing it on blu-ray!

  9. Yeah, Flight of the Navigator was my favorite movie for the majority of my childhood. Probably until Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came out. I was very happy to hear the music in the Time Travellin’ episode! Alas, since I’ve seen it about a billion times, I think I might spend my cash on Unwritten. Mikel made it sound pretty interesting. Now that Scalped and DMZ are over, I need a new series to start reading.

  10. Ooo I would really dig the Die Hard: 25th Anniversary Collection but not sure if I should get it if there is another coming out.

  11. Seven Psychopaths looked quite good, might pick that up. Does anybody know when Cloud Atlas is coming out on blu-ray? I expect lasertime to have a big post about it when it does happen.

  12. Like everyone else, I loved Seven Psychopaths and was lucky enough to catch it theaters.

Also, as soon as the movie was done, I overheard a mother complaining that the movie made no sense, wasn’t funny, and pointless. Meanwhile, I was behind her praising the film to my brother. Overall, Seven Psychopaths was one of my favorite film of last year.

  13. So I almost forgot about buying through the Amazon links on the site and had a bunch of computer parts in my cart. I closed it then went on here and opened Amazon from one of the new releases link then viewed my cart and then proceeded to checkout. It was about $1500 worth of stuff and I hope y’all will get something from it because I love all the shows! Keep up the great work! Missed Seven Psychopaths at the theater so I guess I’ll buy it on Blu-ray.
