Best New Amazon Releases for February 12

We have everything you need. New games and movies, a ton of great deals, pre-order bonuses, and FREE MONEY.

There are a few good Blu-rays this week and one game we’ve been looking forward to for quite a while, but the real highlight of this week’s post are the deals. There is a buttload of them. The best is probably the Xbox LIVE deal: A year subscription for $40. Not too shabby. If none of this is what you’re looking for you don’t have to buy what we link to in order to help us. Once you click our links anything you buy after that will kick a little money our way.

You can also donate to the site directly via one of our Donate buttons or you can buy some cool stuff from our store. We’re working on adding some Vidjagame Apocalypse gear. As always, leave a comment at the bottom of this article and we might give you a $20 Amazon Gift Card.

Aliens: Colonial Marines 360 | PS3 | PC

Designed as a sequel to Aliens (the film that led to several stitches in my hand after I tried Bishop’s knife trick when I was a child) players take on the role of a colonial marine sent to investigate LV-426. You’ll fight familiar aliens and a new type of alien alongside friends in four-player drop-in/drop-out co-op.

Skyfall

Underneath Daniel Craig’s smoldering good looks is a decent, aging James Bond. This may not be the most spectacular Bond film of all time but it is an enjoyable action movie with a good story. Plus, watching Javier Bardem try not to flinch every time a gun is in the scene is fun.

The Perks of Being  a Wallflower

I have heard The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a good book (reading is against my religion) and I’ve been told Emma Watson is a good actress (Harry Potter is also against my religion) so the movie has to be good, right? It’s probably a very heartwarming, charming coming-of-age story.

The Man with the Iron Fists

Now this is a movie I can really get behind. I have a giant boner for kung-fu movies and that’s where The Man with the Iron Fists draws its inspiration. It’s not a phenomenal movie but it definitely has its moments.

Silent Hill: Revelation

Well, it’s a videogame movie so you can’t expect too much from it but, hey, Jon Snow is in it and it makes it a lot funnier if you think of Silent Hill: Revelation and Game of Thrones being somehow related. Revelation is based on Silent Hill 3, which isn’t my personal favorite Silent Hill game but it’s still a pretty darn good game.

 Rise of the Zombies

Danny Trejo is just all over the place nowadays. More importantly, this movie takes place in San Francisco, the greatest city on Earth. I’ve heard a lot of zombie apocalypse plans that involve Alcatraz and that’s exactly what happens in Rise of the Zombies when SF is taken over by the undead. Good family fun for all to enjoy.

  1. Too bad Aliens: Colonial Marines is not a great game (according to most reviews).
At least next week has both Crysis 3 and Metal Gear Rising.

  2. I’m definitely picking up Skyfall. I loved it. It helps that I used to be a Bond fan, but even my friends who have never seen one really enjoyed it. 2012 had tons of great movies like the Avengers, TDKR, and Django, but Skyfall was probably in at least my top 3.

  3. I really want to play Colonial Marines, i keep reading about it and it sounds hilariously bad! I might actually get it off Amazon (through laser time of course) when it inevitably drops in price

  4. Maybe it’s finally time to dive into Invincible. I’ve been putting off the money dump for awhile, but it is calling me.

  5. Skyfall is amazing. It is easily one of my favorite bond films ever and I plan on getting it for my birthday later this month. If you’re even remotely interested in the bond movies you have to see it.

I just saw Perks of Being a Wallflower last night and it was interesting. Performances by the cast was solid with some randomness in the plot with an interesting lead character. Also Paul Rudd and Ann (her?) from Arrested Development are in the movie. Quality coming of age movie.

  6. Nothing for me this week, especially not Aliens Colonial Marines… sound horrible 😛 I definitely need to pick up Hyrule Historia still though!

  7. A new user! Listened from the beginning but didn’t comment until now. I’m not proud of it, just admitting my insolence.

  8. I’m really hoping that I’ll get to play Sleeping Dogs soon. Alas, I have no ps3 in my dorm and I do not have $30

  9. Sad to see Aliens sucks. I was looking forward to another Gearbox game. Oh well, there’s more than enough good games coming out in the next 4 months anyway!

  10. Skyfall was pretty great. Wasn’t expecting too much but man i really liked it. The Man With the Iron Fists isn’t great or anything but it was a pretty fun movie. My dad liked it a lot cuz he’s a big old school kung-fu movie fan.

  11. Oh shit, I actually saw Rise of the Zombies on TV. It was pure shit, and almost in a so-bad-it’s-funny way. The dialogue and script are unbelievably bad.

(SPOILERS, or whatever) There’s a character who’s pregnant and they pretend like she’s important at first but her sole purpose is to deliver a zombie baby. Danny Trejo really doesn’t have a big role at all; he gets punked by this one zombie who manages to take out like 3 other dudes in this house because everyone’s a fucking idiot i guess. And some characters decide to drive down that fucking windy road in SF, so of course they all die (‘cept for the pregnant chick of course).

So yeah, Rise of the Zombies is pretty terrible but still kinda funny.

  12. Not sure if the deals section is new but that is super helpful for a poor person who wants to chip in for all these awesome podcasts.

  13. So torn between getting a new xbox live subscription or going for playstation plus. Just seems like you get more with Plus. Also yay for Skyfall 😛

  14. I saw Skyfall, liked it but didn’t love it. Still like Casino Royale better. I need to watch Skyfall again to see if it is better on a second viewing.
