We have too much to talk about this week, including a totally packed second half where we discuss Winter Soldier. We also talk about finishing Animal Man, Hardee’s vs Carl’s Jr., early Amazing reviews, and way more…
Check out Batman: Arkham Origins
CAPE CRISIS RECOMMENDS:
Cape Crisis #87 Question: Share your thoughts on Winter Soldier!
22 thoughts on “Cape Crisis #87 – HAIL HYDRA”
FINALLY! You guys took forever to post this episode! even almost a full day after posting the QOTW in the forums! 😛
Gonna listen RIGHT NOW!
Quite interesting, DC always seems to do better animated videos then Marvel. Also tears gas loaded machine gun brilliant bats.
Rushmore wasn’t shot in rural Texas, it was shot in Houston.
The scenes at “Rushmore” were shot at a private Catholic school called “St. John’s School” and the scenes at the public school were shot at “Lamar High School.”
In real life, they are literally next door to each other.
Very much so looking forward to the Winter Soldier discussion.
Can someone explain to a comic noob the Marvel demon levels? I like to browse the marvel wiki heroes to see their power levels and all that good stuff- and I was about Nightmare who is apparently a Class 3 demon? But i can’t find any more information on them :/
ARE THERE MORE POWERFUL DEMONS I FEEL LIKE ONE THAT CAN FUCK WITH ETERNITY HAS TO BE PRETTY UP THERE
Hank (or someone with relevant knowledge) help me- you’re my only hope!
There’s Azazel (Nightcrawler’s father) Blackheart (ruler of hell and who might be the most powerful demon? He was at least in the Marvel Vs Capcom series) as well as Magik (Colossuses sister and was temporarily ultra mega powerful during Avengers vs Xmen) And finally Mephisto (altered the entirety of reality In Spiderman One More Day, but he required a sacrifice)
As for who’s strongest as always it depends on whose writing. Blackheart (not to be confused with Care Bears villan Darkheart) might be canonically strongest if I had to guess…
Also, *Spoiler for Ghost Rider Films* Mephisto and Blackheart both show up in the 1st Ghost Rider film, Mephisto in the second as ‘the devil.'( And I forgot to mention Mephisto is Blackhearts father but does that make someone stronger than another person? )
There’s also the Dr. Strange demon villians; Satannish, Hela and Dormammu. With Dormammu also appearing in Marvel Vs Capcom 3
Thanks for all that info! I was actually more so wondering how the actual levels were organized- or if they even were cohesive (like how planned out the power levels are) but you response was much more interesting
My understanding – which may be outdated – is that Mephisto is among the highest of the ‘demon folk,’ though Dormammu and Surtur are up there too. Nightmare is iffy… he’s quite powerful in specific ways but someone like Dr Strange / Silver Surfer can step in and bust him.
And then yeah Blackheart, Magik, Mindless Ones and the like are all big players.
In the second half you guys forgot to talk about the question of the week which was about masks. Sort of how the director forgot about Winter Soilder mask in the second half of the film.
I’m kidding 😛
CRAP! this is the first CC I can’t listen to all the way through, because I was being lazy and haven’t gotten around to seeing winter soldier yet.
gaaaaaah! Im SO LAZY!
also, I’m curious to hear what you guys have to say about the comixololgy acquisition. hmmm?
The closest thing to a complaint I had with Captain America was that the guy playing the Winter Solder had the least intimidating face ever. He still did a great job but he just has the biggest puppy-dog eyes. It really didn’t get in the way of my enjoyment but it kind of undermined his big “oh shit” unmasking, I could have sworn he had massive bags under his eyes earlier in the movie and they were implying he was all haggard underneath, but nope, total babyface.
The “bags” in his eyes was black painting actually XD
I really enjoyed the film, but I think it would have been flat out incredible if I had never seen any previews. Every time Cap stepped into an elevator I was expecting a fight to break out. As soon as I saw the heli-carriers I knew they’d meet their demise. Sure, the build up to these moments were excellent but I wish I never saw them coming.
And what’s with that S.H.I.E.L.D. dudebro? Did he even have a name? I swear he’s in more scenes than Cap is.
You mean Rumlow? There’s a reason for that, this movie was basically setting him up as bigger villian/adversary for the future, since he’s actually a Cap America villian called “Crossbones”. We don’t see him as crossbones in this movie, but seeing how at the end they deliberately show you that they svaed him even though he’s all burned darth vader style, it’s safe to assume we’ll see him fully into his crossbone persona later.
Or, to put it more succintly in a way I heard in another place, this movie kinda serves like an origin story for Crossbones… I dunno if he’s really that cool or badass in the comics that he’d merit such attention, but there you go, hopefully it’ll pay off later.
I particularly liked how the camera would draw attention to his belts, which formed a cross on his chest, during his fight with Sam and when he’s in the A&E and the end. FORESHADOWING!
…Huh, I’ve seen the movie twice, and I actually had NOT noticed that! XD I’ll be sure to be more observant next time 😉
Love the Hail Hydra meme! Particularly because it felt forced in the movie. Also, I was hoping you guys would talk a bit more about how Avengers 2 might be set up.
Awesome podcast guys! I could have totally used like at least 20 more minutes of Winter Soldier talk cause there was so much good stuff there to talk about. I continue to find it weird how into this podcast I get while I barley read any comics as it is.
1st end credits spoiler:
anyone think they might wrangle the rights for X-men from fox and we might even get a maybe an AvX movie. Also now i want to see Magnito in the next Avengers
Is it weird that I’m more excited for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game than for the actual movie?
