The Monday Night Movie October Schedule

This month we say Happy Halloween with a bunch of horror classics, PLUS we finally reach the day Doc Brown had long ago prophesied…

Another month, another collection of great films to watch along with the Laser Time community! Yes, it’s time for another month of Monday Night Movies! In case you don’t know, much like the freebies we did for Terminator 2, Back to The Future, and Power Rangers: The Movie, we pick a different movie each week to live stream commentary, and it’s available every Monday 6PM Pacific, exclusively for Laser Time Patreon members for the low cost of $5 a month, BTW, that paltry $5 a month also nets you a bonus weekly Laser Time, a weekly episode of Talking Simpsons, and more. So what are we seeing in this spooky month? Here’s the schedule!

EVIL DEAD 2 – October 5th
Buy on Amazon | Digital Download
We start the month of Halloween with perhaps the greatest horror film ever made. Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are one of the best filmmaking duos around, and Evil Dead 2 is their deadite-filled masterpiece. Part Three Stooges, part Living Dead, and part EC Comics, this is a timeless film about one man’s journey from tragedy to the grooviest boomstick holder of all time. Just in time for the the brand new Starz series!

MONSTER SQUAD – October 12th
Buy on Amazon | Stream on Netflix
Finally, all those iconic Universal Monsters are brought into the here-and-now, and by that I mean the mid-1980s. This surprisingly intense cult classic was one of Shane Black’s first scripts, and let us know all about the Wolfman’s nards. So put on your beloved Stephen King Rules shirt and pull this up (it’s currently on Netflix!), because we’re going to comment the hell out of this one.

We did the first entry not too long ago, but this week is a special event. The sequel saw the characters travel into the future for the first time, on the date of October 21, 2015! Now we can truly judge how accurate it is by watching it the very week it happened. Do we have hoverboards? Did the Cubbies win the series? What about self-tying shoes? We’ll question all that and more as we all watch along to this classic made new again.

Each month we normally close out with a Star Wars film, but that simply wouldn’t do for the week of Halloween. Instead, we’ll be commentating on a horror film voted on by Laser Time Patrons in the $10 tier! Stay tuned, voting will begin soon. Feel free to start suggesting films in the comments, be they scary or scarily bad – just no Adam Sandler, please! [Editor’s note: Star Wars will now be the first week of November, and Empire Strikes Back will be the last Monday of November.]

Quite a stacked month of movies, no? We can’t wait to watch along with all of you. Don’t forget, all you need to join us on Monday Night Movie is to own a copy of the movie (shopping through our Amazon links helps us, though there are always “alternative methods”), have a stable internet connection, and donate to our Patreon at the $5 level. Just to have it all clear in bold text…

MONDAY NIGHT MOVIES begin every MONDAY @ 6:00 PM PACIFIC TIME (unless stated otherwise) exclusively for Patreon members at the $5 level

  1. Well it is October so I’m going to throw in Beetle Juice or one of the Chucky movies. I would say Bride of Chucky or Seed of Chucky, seem ’em both and they seem the right amount of good bad for streaming.

  2. Oh my god! I have literally all these movies in my dvd collection. This is gonna be a good month. Thank you Chris for hearing my pleas on evil dead 2. I cannot wait to pop in that dvd again. close second, Monster squad. I still remember photoshopping you guys into the group photo for monster squad in honor of the end of Tdar.

    1. Evil Dead 2 is one of the best movies ever made and I haven’t watched it in almost a decade. I can’t. Fucking. WAIT!

  3. How about They Live? It’s kind of a horror movie which is perfect for Halloween month.

I am going to keep pushing They Live until it makes it to the list.

  4. I was gonna suggest a Romero movie, but it makes more sense to watch a Wes Craven movie on Halloween this year. The Hills Have Eyes or Scream would be cool.

  5. Monster Squad is currently on Netflix and The BTTF trilogy is available on Amazon Prime for the month of October. I hope you guys (LT crew) do the Community Choice voting sooner then last month!
