Can you climb higher, swing faster, and break harder than anyone else when it comes to WWE Tables, Ladders, and Chairs 2015 predictions? If so, your pick of wrestler theme will adorn next month’s Cheap Popcast! Check out the Laser Time crew’s picks, then make yours!
Are you ready for some TLC? The card may be a bit underwhelming, but it’s always fun to predict… right? As we’ve been doing for years now, the reader who makes the most correct predictions in our monthly PPV contest gets to pick the song that plays at the conclusion of next month’s PPV recap episode of Cheap Popcast! First, though, a recap of the LT gang’s Survivor Series picks: Hank and Dave tied for last place with both self-proclaimed wrestling fanatics going 4-for-6. The winner was also a tie between power-couple Brett and Carolyn, who both got five. The competition was bigger amongst the readers, Sensationo was the only person to pick a full card, so their choice of “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)” (also known as The Undertaker’s biker theme) will play during the next Cheap Popcast.
Anywho, here’s how the prediction contest goes. The LaserTime gang will make picks in this here article (the winner will get their picks on the first page the next month), and then open up the replies to you great listeners. You will then pick a winner (or if you’re feeling frisky, a rare draw/no contest) for each match (don’t worry about getting the finish right, I’m just looking for winners, if any), and then, just in case there’s a tie for correct predictions, pick a running time for the final match listed (the presumed main event) as a tiebreaker.
If you ascend to the top of the predictions contest, you can make your mark on the next PPV-themed Cheap Popcast episode by choosing a theme to close a segment. Pick the wrestler theme and include a YouTube URL to a wrestler’s theme alongside your predictions (including the running time of Sheamus-Reigns match) and I’ll give you a shout-out on next month’s episode. Got it? Good. Now, onto each LaserTimer’s predictions!
1 – THE DUDLEY BOYZ, TOMMY DREAMER & RHYNO VS. THE WYATT FAMILY (8-MAN ELIMINATION TABLES MATCH)
Look. Wyatts must win this, and they really should do so in a way that buries the whole ECW team. Wyatts have looked lame and ineffective for months and surely the writing staff can agree to let the old timers take a fall. Please??
2 – DIVAS CHAMPION CHARLOTTE W/ RIC FLAIR VS. PAIGE
Feud is all over the place. They were friends. Then enemies. Then frenemies. Then bitter blood rivals bent on destruction. Now Charlotte’s being mean to Becky which also makes her kind of a rude heel? Hard to know who’s “right or wrong” in this setup so it’s hard to guess or even FEEL who should win. I guess Charlotte solely so Sasha or Becky can unseat her later? Also guessing this match is lame and not satisfying.
3- UNITED STATES CHAMPION ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. JACK SWAGGER (CHAIRS MATCH)
Rio wins, Swagger bumped back to Main Event.
4- WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE NEW DAY VS. THE USOS VS. THE LUCHA DRAGONS (TRIPLE THREAT LADDER MATCH)
A triple threat ladder match? Surely this will steal the show, right?? Somehow doubt this will live up its potential (all three teams have talent) but hoping for “merely entertaining.” New Day is great, but their gimmick is wearing thin when they have no real enemies or direction. I would love Dragons to win, but I think Usos get their belts back and then hopefully New Day has to chase them into Wrestlemania season, whining about their loss. Right now, New Day is party party party… they need to feel ignored or misunderstood to really work, so I kinda want them to lose the belts!
5- INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION KEVIN OWENS VS. DEAN AMBROSE
I do love Ambrose, but Owens is doing a solid job of giving the title some luster. Owens retains… although, I would love to see Wrestlemania season where Reigns has World, Ambrose has IC and Rollins gets US just in time for WM32. A three-way where each already holds a belt could be cool.
6- RYBACK VS RUSEV
Oh neat, a match announced about 72 hours before the show starts. Hard to know if Rusev/Lana are still in the dog house, but I think whatever axe the suits had to grind still needs some grinding, so Big Babby Wyback wins. Though this match induces yawns from a mile away, I do think these two could have an amazing smashfest if allowed / staged properly.
7- WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION SHEAMUS VS. ROMAN REIGNS (TABLES, LADDERS & CHAIRS MATCH)
Tater Tot wins because why give Roman his “big break” at TLC. Set up a rematch or three way with Lesnar at RR, perhaps?
Up next… Hank’s picks!
