Ahead of The Walking Dead: Michonne’s release next week, Telltale has uploaded the first six minutes of the long-awaited next zombie adventure from the kings of episodic gaming. C’mon in, it’s spoiler free!
It’s been a long year-and-a-half since we’ve last been able to peek into post-apocalyptic Georgia via Telltale’s Walking Dead game series. After the original series won game of the year awards in 2012 and the second season brought unimaginable new twists in 2014, we’re now getting a batch of new episodes focused on the exploits of the comic series’ most popular character not named Grimes. Check out the first six minutes of The Walking Dead: Michonne!
Focused on Michonne’s time away from the Alexandria community (some of which is spent on a boat, according to the comics) we’ll likely see a few slightly familiar comic characters but hopefully it sticks to what’s made the other Telltale games so great and deliver a new cast of survivors to care about. Fortunately, the trailer above is all about Michonne and the silent grief she’s harbored for the family she couldn’t save. In one of the bloodiest Walking Dead game scenes we’ve seen to date, Michonne uses her sword, her firsts, and a lot of the environment to decimate a horde of zombies, all the while flashing back to the walkers who infiltrated her former home. Even the prompts are caked in gore! There’s none of the heart-wrenching choices we’ve seen in other Telltale episodes, but hopefully those follow shortly after Michonne’s murder-fest.
