The Best New Amazon Releases: Uncharted Doom For Deadpool

The biggest PlayStation exclusive of 2016 arrives alongside a much-anticipated shooter and the surprise superhero hit of the year in this week’s packed Amazon roundup!

May rolls on with one of the biggest release weeks of the year! We’ve got PlayStation’s biggest franchise making its PS4 debut, a much-anticipated FPS franchise return, and a damn good superhero movie to boot. If for some reason none of these blockbusters tickle your fancy clicking any Laser Time Amazon link and buying something else during the visit will send some cents back to your boys here at the LT. Also, if you buy the physical edition of any game listed here during launch week and have Amazon Prime, you’re gonna get a pretty hefty 20% discount. Now, lets set course for these games and movies!

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Here it is; probably the MOST anticipated PlayStation 4 game ever! In the two-and-a-half years since the PS4 has been around, we’ve been waiting for a new Uncharted game, especially after the PS3 Uncharted trilogy set the benchmark for that console’s graphical power. Now that it’s out on new-gen, you can expect even crazier set-pieces and more detailed half-tucks. We’ll be streaming this on Tuesday and talking about it on VGA, so keep up with the convo by scoring this game on the cheap with Amazon Prime’s 20% discount! Want a bit more Uncharted goodness? A Thief’s End also has Special Edition, a pricier Collector’s Edition and PlayStation 4 bundle.

New Doom games are a pretty rare occasion; we got the first two in the early 90s, scored a sequel in 2004, and now (nearly a dozen years later), Bethesda has finally unloaded another sequel. The first Doom game to be crafted specifically for HD (Doom 3 was upgraded for HD consoles), this new Doom promises the fast action with awesome guns the franchise has laid claim to since its beginning, with some new multiplayer tweaks to compete with modern shooters (including the ability to turn into a demon)! You can also meet your Doom on Xbox One and PC, and you’ll score 20 percent off if you’re an Amazon Prime member!

Battle World: Kronos
No offense to Battle World: Kronos, but there is a definite drop in name recognition after the first two releases of this week. Still, BWK has a few things going for it if you’re in the market for a cheaper real-time strategy game. At just $20 bucks (even less for Amazon Prime members), this strategy game could be a great change of pace from Uncharted and Doom’s non-stop shooting and jumping. Consoles rarely score RTSes, so let’s celebrated the beginning of this Battle!

MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies
Even with two the biggest gaming franchises coming out in the same week, we still have room for another HyperDimension Neptunia game, making for the 592nd release in the series! MegaTagmension Blanc is a spinoff of the console-war-simulation RPG series where the characters Blanc and Neptune do battle with the undead. Like the entire series, it’s available on Vita cart (with the requisite 20 percent Amazon Prime discount), and this one is PSTV compatible so that you can ogle anime characters on your HDTV!

Lost in all of the celebration of Marvel Civil War and the mourning of Batman v Superman is that we had another fantastic superhero movie this year, and one of the most pleasant surprises to boot! Deadpool was a pretty big mystery before release, given Fox’s iffy Marvel track record and Ryan Reynolds’ underwhelming performances in superhero movies before. Fortunately, Deadpool delivered a pretty great origin story that worked for hardcore fans and newbs alike (and with a much smaller budget than those crossover movies). If you want DP in HD with all of the extras, buy the Blu-ray! Er, that sounded wrong…

Where To Invade Next?
If you’re a listener of Laser Time’s Patreon-exclusive podcast Bonus Time, you know that some of the gang are big fans of Michael Moore. Double-M has never been afraid of confronting the powers-that-be over America’s ills, and even though Where To Invade Next features a slightly more pleasant Moore, it still confronts issues of the USA and how it trails many foreign countries in some pretty important categories. If you want to see Mr. Moore in the highest definition with the most extras, get WTIN on Blu-ray!

WrestleMania 32
Hey, did you know WrestleMania happened recently? Of course, you probably heard us discuss 2016’s biggest wrestling show of the year on Cheap Popcast or some other stream/show. If you want to watch it at your leisure without depending on the WWE Network’s streaming quality, the biggest ‘Mania ever (in both crowd capacity and running time) can be had on Blu-ray. Even if the show couldn’t live up to last year’s ‘Mania (especially without a WrestleMania Behind-the-Scenes video to accompany this year’s show), there were still some unforgettable moments and great grappling to make the show worthwhile.

Miyazaki fans should not miss this sale!

The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki
Hayao Miyazaki is the most celebrated animator of the last 50 years, and for good reason. Films like My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Princess Mononoke are some of the most fully realized worlds ever shown in theaters, capturing the hearts of people from just about every age and part of the planet. Now that he’s retired, Amazon has an exquisite looking special collection of every feature length film Miyazaki directed all in one box set. Plus, there are some fantastic bonuses as well that will likely justify the price. Currently it’s less than $180, which is a fucking STEAL. If you love animation, BUY THIS.
