  1. This has become my all time favorite Simpsons episode and I don’t even like Baseball. For some reason I’ve always been drawn to Baseball themed episodes of cartoons, this and Clerks had their finest moments.

  2. It is strange that one of the earliest shows with real life guests is one of the best. I saw the Natural as a kid, and it always stuck with me. This is one of those episodes that gave me a chance to show it to my girlfriend after we watched the Natural a year or two ago. And for some reason I thought I remembered the Wonderbat being all twisted, too.

  3. Going to add my voice to the choir: I don’t give A SHIT about baseball, but this episode is one of the single greatest works of comedy I have ever experienced. Top 5 episode. John Swartzwelder is a beautiful creature.

  4. This is a masterful episode. Burns complaining about “sideburns” up to the point where he’s nearly bald has had me almost in tears before, not to mention the bizarre and surreal ways the other players can’t make it to the game. I forgot that this episode was so early in the show, but I was beyond excited to watch it again this week.

  5. I love this episode! It is easily in my top three and may be my all time favorite. I was just getting into baseball when this originally aired but, thanks to my older brothers Upper Deck collection, I knew who these players were. I always chuckle when Eddie and Lou arrest Saxy Boy for not being able to keep his mouth shut.
