Our first ever glimpse of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 has arrived and it’s certainly hooked on that ol’ feeling…
2014 feels like forever ago. And I’m only saying that because of how goddamned much I liked Guardians of the Galaxy. I am not alone. The world is on my side. With that said, it’s a wonder how the Marvel Cinematic factory took this long to provide us with a follow up to Star Lord and Company’s intergalactic adventures. We had but a single year (almost to the day) between Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. Three years is Star Wars time, but even Disney has shortened the time betwixt those films to 11 months and change… Guardians is the new Star Wars, there I said it. Here’s the trailer.

I totally agree, Chris. I grew up without Star Wars being a formative influence, and then once I saw it, I wondered what the fuss was all about. I really enjoyed Force Awakens, definitely my favorite Star Wars movie, but even with that you could feel JJ REALLY trying to put humor and charm back into it and it felt the slightest bit forced. Guardians seem to come much more organically. I think it speaks to Whedon having influence at the time and really backing Gunn’s vision, which looks to be the case here and with Waititi’s Ragnarok, which holy crap…never thought I’d be excited for a Thor movie.
The best part of these guardian movies is that they know to have fun; something a lot of movies nowadays could learn a thing from.
It’s like they just knew everyone would make that final shot their new desktop wallpaper.
That was actually a real teaser. Most are just shorter than average trailers that still have loads of plot details and action. This however, this is how you hype people up.
