Vidjagame Apocalypse 188 – Badass Presidents

We’re just days away from the 2016 election as of this posting, and “tensions are high” doesn’t seem as appropriate an assessment of the general mood as “chaos reigns.” Still, we try to keep it celebratory, as Henry Gilbert rejoins the show for a look at five US presidents we can all agree on (if only because their insane policies are confined to the games they inhabit). We then move on to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Titanfall 2, Owlboy, and the games that you think would be a good fit for Nintendo Switch.

Question of the Week

If you could elect any video game character as president, who would it be?

Theme song by Matthew Joseph Payne. Break song is Metal Fighter from Metal Wolf Chaos. Haunting and beautiful New Releases Theme by David B. Cooper.

  1. If I were to elect a president from a video game, it would be Brommando aka John Matrix from the movie Commando. He would take ass and kick names and not even his best friend turned arch enemy Bennet could stifle his reign as an asskicking president.

  2. As ridiculous as MGS2’s story is, I still think it brings up some very interesting points that were ahead of the time and essentially came to pass or be discussed in the years that followed. Plus, as I believe Dave once said, it’s gameplay is suuuuch a refined experience that it’s great to go back to.

  3. I hope this doesn’t offend anyone, but I think the podcasts are at their best when Gilbert returns. There is just something about this group that makes the podcast more dynamic

  4. QOTW: If you have already shown great results as a mayor, of course it would be logical to run for presidency. Therefore I will put my vote on Mike Haggar who has shown amazing diplomacy and problem solving skills in his past work.

  5. It’s kinda crazy that there’s no Xbox emulator in 2016 when we’re so used to being able to just load up an old game and play it on our computers. So many Japanese games that were exclusive to Xbox are unaccounted for or are really buggy through backwards compatibility.
