Does this count as an actual episode?
That was also my first thought. I’m very anal about keeping my podcast’s named, numbered, and ordered.
QOTW: Is it the worst episode because Chris has never hosted a video game podcast before?
I’m having flashbacks to “Brink, Thor, and Sega Comebacks”
After all these years still playing games on my ps3 almost done with dynasty warriors Gundam 3 for a game about giant robots fighting that game takes forever
You both should give Regular show episodes : Format Wars 1 & Format Wars 2 a watch.
QOTW: you tried your best. I just jope you learned something from this: never try
totally agree with Chris’ annoyance at the ‘super-recognizable pop song + weird arrangement’ trend — it’s one of the primary things that repeatedly made me grimace during WESTWORLD . . .
jesus that Nirvana Quantum Break one is TURRIBLE
Thank you two for making this episode happen – even without the full crew. You put your blood and sweat into all of these pocasts. Weeks like this one really make me appreciate you guys even more!
So it’s come to this: a Laser Time clip show. Or maybe a crossover. Or semi-rerun.
The new Ghostbusters wasn’t crappy because of all the women, it just wasn’t an interesting movie, and not remotely funny. Even the original cast wouldn’t have made it any better if they’d had real parts in it. All these female remakes of songs are similar, the guys’ voices make the songs more distinctive, but the women all just sound like a woman singing someone else’s songs. Like when female vocals took over electronic music at the end of the 90s , it all lost its charm, and sounded the same.
fwiw I thought this was a great episode. I love that someone finally pointed out the “stripped down female cover over gritty pre-rendered cutscene” cliche that’s been going on lately. First one I vividly remember of this recent era was Evolve (youtube.com/watch?v=7Zvnj-GGUf0)
Side-note: I hope y’all have Hank on Bonus Time and just do a full-on uncensored vent session. I know everyone might not want to hear that… but I could really use your voices during this time. Hell, hearing the LAST episode of BT was helpful, and it was only covering pre-election stuff. Just saying.
You guys have been my voice of reason and guiding light since fucking 2008, and this election is making me feel a lot of things. It’d be comforting to hear your perspective on it as weird as that may sound.
Peace and Love
i remember a very cool female cover of Wicked Game that was on the Forza Horizon 3 E3 trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YrA9-djXHg
Also the last few months i have had Lissie songs thrown at me from like 18 different directions. the universe really wants me to be a fan of this woman, i guess.
You guys shouldn’t give yourself too much crap for this – it was still an enjoyable listen and almost the length of some LT or Cape Crisis episodes.

The top 5 is definitely something that had bugged me over the last generation and a bit, but I had never really been conscious of how prevalent it really was. Not quite as bad as those live-action Halo commercials though.
I liked this episode; nice and cozy just Brett and Chris. Nice change of pace every once in a while.
