  1. QOTW: I was really hoping Square-Enix would announce that the Seiken Densetsu collection released for Switch in Japan was being localized and brought over to the US. The original Secret of Mana is awesome and I’d love to replay it on Switch, but it’s still crazy to think its sequel has never been released here even though fan translations have existed online for two decades at this point and clone carts are easy to come by on eBay. An official western release of that game would be more than welcomed at this point, but if they elect not to release that Switch port outside of Japan, it probably means US gamers can abandon hope of ever getting an official release.

  2. Grimm’s portentous prophecy has rung true – over a year later and Chris is still prattling on about going to that damn water park.

    (Just joking. Love you guys.)

  3. E3 was kind of frustrating this year in that so much seems to be 2018 releases, and rumors I had really hoped were true turned out false. HOWEVER, my god did Nintendo kind of save the day. Mario Odyssey looks incredible and I’m still in shock they announced TWO Metroid games. And the Spider-Man footage looks so good that I can’t complain too much about having to wait ~12 months.

  4. QOTW: I was really hoping that there would have been some updates about Resident Evil 2 remake. And I was really bummed out by the lack of Arkham Insurgency news. I know it’s never been confirmed by WB Games, but I guy can hope, right?

  5. QOTW: Even though I’m aware of Rockstar’s attitude towards E3 and other gaming events, it was still a bit disappointing that none of the big console names did not use their powers to showcase Red Dead Redemption 2 in any form. Even a CG-trailer would’ve blown my mind even into smaller pieces than Beyond Good&Evil 2 did.

  6. Love the new Henry sound clip. Glad to hear “Woah, Bob Mackey” again. More Duckman, please. You guys are the best

    1. I believe that’s from an old radio show called The Aldrich Family. That’s how they opened the show every week. Lover the reference Antitties. My $5 a month is well spent!

  7. I’m really not optimistic about the Metroid 2 remake. The last time Sakamoto directed a third party to make a Metroid game was Other M. And we already saw footage of the over-the-top melee takedown move in the new game.

I’m usually optimistic about Nintendo, but my expectations could not be lower. Couple this with the fact that it’s being held hostage on a fucking LeapFrog and I don’t think I’ll be playing this entry…

  8. Every year everyone seems to slobber all over Nintendo’s knob, and there never ends up being a good system’s worth of games, in my opinion. I bought a bunch of older games that were on sale this week (FF XV, Watchdogs 2, Last Guardian) that I wasn’t interested enough to get right away, and it looks like I’ll have plenty of time to get through them, there wasn’t anything that sounds that great at E3. I wasn’t that interested in Horizon until it came out, though, and I’m enjoying it right now, so something will come along, I’m sure.

  9. HEY BOB Strange Journey *is* fun — as long as you love Etrian Odyssey/Wizardry-likes. Actually now I’m curious if you’ve played through those games

        1. I love Strange Journey, I’ve played through it twice. I don’t think it’s any meaner than Etrian Odyssey games.

        2. the Supermarket level is so rad!! I don’t remember feeling like this game was any harder than Etrian Odyssey

  10. QOTW: I keep wishing that Nintendo brings back Treasure to make Sin & Punishment 3. On one hand, I should be sensible enough to know that will never happen since the last game did not sell. On the other hand, I love the series so much that I will keep wishing for a new Sin & Punishment game every year.

  11. QOTW: Bloodborne 2? I know its hoping for a lot, and I’m not surprised it didn’t get announced. FromSoft probably has a lot of things to work on, and with the success they have had with the Souls series, they have earned a vacation for a little while. But still, I would’ve lost it if they had revealed it at the conference.

  12. Chris, I have one reason to remake SOTC for PS4.

    The camera is shit.

The camera was shit in the PS2 version. The camera was shit in the PS3 port.

The camera is practically another colossus because you are fighting with it the entire game.

The camera is so bad I couldn’t even bother finishing SOTC on PS3. I’m looking forward to this version if only for not having to fight with the camera the entire game.

  13. QOTW

    Demon’s Souls on PS4

Now I know what you’re thinking- why? Well how about this- how many of the Lasertime crew played Demon’s Souls besides Mikel and (maybe) Bob?

The other reason besides “who the fuck played it?” for a Demon’s Souls re-release is also that… it’s aged pretty poorly- it’s sub-720p, 30 frames in an age of 2160p (4k) and 60-120 fps for a game. It looks and sounds like trash- it’s even got a horrible “2007-2012 video game” filter- it’s grey, grainy and dark.

So a proper SotC style update, with refined gameplay and using the engine of Bloodborne? Sign me the fuck up! It’s actually been heavily rumored for a couple of years, and as a Sony-owned property, that pretty confirms it exists in some form or another, so I had hope it’d finally drop. *sad face*

  14. I disagree about Henry’s sentiment of Switch getting so many games because if one now a unified base. I think the Switch has the games it does because Nintendo effectively abandoned the WiiU for its last 18 months. Zelda only came out on WiiU because that’s where it was originally announced, and it arrived with literally no gamepad functions. No inventory management on the gamepad like what was shown by Treehouse on the Nintendo E3 stream last year. The only gamepad features it uses for gameplay is the gyro sensor for aiming plus some puzzles. It was a redux of Twilight Princess and releasing only on the previous gen because they announced it for that. That said, I hope Switch owners get ports of all the great, underplayed games that were on the WiiU, which even with its awful sales, had some of the best exclusives of any console.

  15. QOTW: I’d have to say that I was disappointed by the lack of new PS4 games releasing later in 2017. Apart from the Crash Bandicoot and FFXII remasters (both of which are releasing within a few weeks), there aren’t any PS4 exclusives I’m looking forward to for the rest of the year.

On the other hand, it’ll give me time to finally finish all of the games that released between the last holiday season and now.

  16. I was really hoping for some gameplay from Death Stranding, but I kinda get it, since it’s supposedly coming out this year, and Sony was clearly committed to showing games from 2018.

  17. All I wanted from E3 was a Borderlands 3 announcement and to know what the hell Rocksteady is working on.

  18. Chris mentioned that emulation isn’t great for Xbox and PSP. While Xbox emulation is very poor (although Cxbx-Reloaded does have a Patreon –, PSP emulation is fairly mature. There are over 1000 games dumped for it and PPSSPP is currently the best emulator (check for a compatibility guide). There is also a PPSSPP core in RetroArch, if you are used to using that Emulator.
