  1. QotW: 2018 game I’m looking forward to the most would be Kingdom Hearts 3. Even though I have my doubts it’s being released in 2018. Waited damn near 10 years for it, and we’ll probably be waiting another 10 before it’s released. By then there’ll be a Simpsons, Die Hard, Marvel Land in the game, thanks to the Fox acquisition. If it manages to come out next year, it’ll be fun as hell playing through the Toy Story level.

  2. QOTW: You know what, there’s probably something I’m more hyped about like Red Dead 2, Anthem, Spider-Man, but I’m gonna say Call of Duty. After the much awaited return to boots on the ground gameplay with Call of Duty: WWII this year, and the mixed reaction it’s had from the fanbase, I’m extremely curious to see where Treyarch is going with their instalment come November.
Black Ops 3 may have had the worst campaign to date, but its zombies and multiplayer were top notch in my books, and even held aloft as the best “jet pack” Call of Duty entry by fans that are vehemently against the advanced movement system the series was in for a few years.
Treyarch has become the fan-favourite developer for Call of Duty and I feel like they have a good chance at really knocking it out of the park if they go back to a lot of the systems and styles people are craving from the heyday of the boots on the ground Call of Duty entries. Then again, maybe those days are lost, and fans like me are just grasping at straws for the series to return to what it meant to us at the time.

  3. Oh yeah, Spider-Man is supposed to come out next year, so I hope it won’t be as frustrating as Arkham Knight!

What I really want to play is Yakuza 6 as we close the chapter on not only Kazuma Kiryu but the Pocket Racer!

  4. Death fakin’ Stranding, my friend. I feel like after hours of watching those 3 trailers, and a whole bunch of speculation videos that I might actually be getting a picture of what this game is going to be, and I couldn’t be more excited!

*i kinda think the game is a meta narrative where people are plucked from purgatory to be used as game avatars. Kojima is a weirdo and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  5. I’ve never heard of Night in the woods and was very pleased to see it’s avaialble on PS4 – I’m going to buy it just based off your recommendation.

With that said: Which 2018 game are you most looking for? Kingdom Hearts 3 (LOL)

  6. Long time listener first time commenter here. Just want to say whoever is the Dead Milkmen fan who put Jason’s Head in before the first promo, thanks for that! Favorite song from favorite band ever! Sorry for the off subject comment GOTY is Hot Shots part 8 for the Playstation 4.

  7. Still dont understand the BOTW love. Lack of a story, Epona DLC, no real dungeons, massive collectathon, shit economy, god awful inventory system, about 3 total enemies. But hey you can put metal near a tree and lightning will strike it on fire! GOTY!

QOTW: Sea of Thieves. Looks like a different kind of game that I think will be a ton of fun. Runner up: Crackdown and next Halo.

  8. Since I’m not sure what will actually release by year end 2018, I’ll go with stuff that has a date and say Dragon Ball Fighter Z. Love the way Arcsys is capturing the style of the series and it looks like a he’ll of a lot of in to play with my friends

  9. QOTW: Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord! The original Mount and Blade is as fun and engaging as it is ugly. Taleworlds announced the Sequel in 2012 and said it would release in 2017. However, that doesn’t look that’s going to happen. But here’s hoping for more silly medieval horse based combat in 2018!

  10. QoTW: I’ve already pre-ordered Shadow of the Colossus and I’m actually looking forward to blowing through it again.

I really want Ni no Kuni II… BUT… I still haven’t beat the first one, Persona 5 from this year, Disgaea PC and Disgaea 5, nor Xenoblades Chronicles 2 and Doki Doki Literature Club. I’m already up to my eyeballs in JRPG games with anime artstlyes. I seriously have like 500 hours of JRPG/anime games from this last year. I hope it get delayed until summer or next Christmas.
Even if these were the ONLY types of games I played… it’s still too much.

    1. EDIT – IF, and it’s a big IF… but IF Mechwarrior 5 comes out next year, I’ll be jizzing my pants for a month straight. I’ll probably die of dehydration from the amount I’ll jizz if the Battletech/Mechwarrior X-Com style game comes out next year as well.
And there’s a rumor that FROM Software is bringing back Armored Core as well (hopefully they learned dual stick aiming with Dark Souls… yes, only the last Armored Core had proper dual stick aiming).

It sucks that 100 Foot Robot Golf is practically my only option for giant mecha games from this decade. *Didn’t have a WiiU and 45 hours to unlock Giant Mecha in Xenoblade Chronicles X*

  11. QOTW: Spider-Man PS4! Both because I’m super excited for the potential of a GREAT modern Spidey game with full Marvel-Disney support, and I’m not really sure of a lot of 2018 releases.

  12. QOTW: Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, or as I like to call it Street Fighter V: Now with content! Seriously though as a huge fan of fighting games, it was painful having to skip this entry but was just Capcom’s rushed out the door to appease the comparably smaller EVO crowd, overpriced DLC laden beta test of what was mechanically still a great fighting game. Other fighters since like Guilty Gear Rev 2, Tekken 7 and Injustice 2 clearly showed how it’s done, why else would they be back peddling on their promise of only one release of V? This is the real next Street Fighter entry.

  13. Darksiders 3, Forza Horizon 4, and Terry Crews Simulator (Crackdown 3). And RDR2 obviously.
I enjoyed Darksiders 2 a lot and really liked the combat, design, and characters in that game so I’m wishing for all the best for Darksiders 3 in being a bigger and better sequel. I guess I will wait and see.

Also, forgot to post this last week QOTW
Personal GOTY: Hellblade and Sonic Mania.
Honorable Mentions: Injustice 2, Cuphead, and Wolfenstein 2
Still Playing: Nier Automata and Shadow of War

  14. QotW: This game was promised a 2018 release back when I Kickstarted it in 2015, and IF it comes out, it may be my game of the year. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. I am huge Igarashi fan, and I have been following the development blog like a trail of crumbs to lead me to salvation. Symphony of the Night is one of my favorite games of all time, and I play start to finish about once a year. The subsequent hand-held Casltevania titles have been great, but my arthritic old-man hands begin to cramp up after holding the DS for too long. This game seems like Iga’s love letter to fans of the Metroidvania genre, and I can’t wait to play it.

  15. QOTW: I’m definitely looking forward to Soul Calibur 6. I never played 3 because it was PlayStation exclusive and missed 4 completely. I couldn’t put in the time to get used to the drastic differences 5 had from 2 and only played it for a few hours. I’ve been yearning for another installment for years and it’s finally here! 6 is a reboot of the timeline, so I’m eager to find out what the roster will be.
