I was the absolutely perfect age for Neverending Story I, recall watching it on VHS and HBO countless times and was the exact same age as Bastion when it came out, and yet when Neverending Story II came out I was way too old for it. There might have been a version of the sequel that I could have been into, but by II I was actually reading movie reviews and it sounded like it was for kids even younger than I was when I came out so I gave it a pass. What other film sequels were for younger audiences than the original?
POLL: What Neverending Story media have you experienced?
First bugs bunny cartoon in 50 years. https://youtu.be/1W63rkq9LOY Do you think they’ll ever be another film in theaters that will have a Looney Toons short before it?
What film turned out to have a huge plot point that you did not anticipate?
For me it was Meet the Applegates. Oh man do I recall watching this on late night Cinemax and being grossed out. Growing up on Nick at Night I had a fascination with “1950’s people in the modern day” and I originally thought this was going to be that type of film but then they turned out to be bugs. I’m not sure if the gross parts were that gross but it was more that I wasn’t expecting them.
What is the best Gerard Depardieu film?
Seinfeld pony conversation. This is the first “bit” from Seinfeld that I can remember repeating to classmates at school. We all genuinely wondered why someone would go from a “pony country” to a “non-pony country.” What Seinfeld bit do you think you repeated the most times?
The Simpsons. The Way We Was. OK, follow along with me here. Marge gets pregnant out of High School, right? So she and Homer would be 18 at the time? In the “present day” Bart is 10. So at most shouldn’t Homer and Marge be 29 years old?
What is your favorite MST3K Kaiju episode? (#thritytwentyten End of second season was a Godzilla film).
Is “I touch Myself” the best song about masterbation of all time? https://youtu.be/fM46Jb5l5c8

Malèna. What are some films you are aware of solely because of their VHS box covers stuck with you even though you never watched them or remember a trailer for them? For me it’s Amélie which I’m just watching now with my wife for the first time.
Preston Sturgis movies other than Sullivans travels. Palm Beach. I married a witch. Lady Eve (top of her list).
Oh Brother Wherefort Art Though. Big Rock Candy Mountain is an old old song that originally warned children against homosexual pediofile hobos. “The punk rolled up his big blue eyes and said to the jocker, “Sandy, I’ve hiked and hiked and wandered too, But I ain’t seen any candy. I’ve hiked and hiked till my feet are sore, I’ll be God damned if I hike any more, To be buggered sore like a hobo’s whore In the Big Rock Candy Mountains.”
Amazon Women in the Mood. I feel like this has achieved a degree of pop culture immortality as 20 years after it aired the first thing I saw when the Giant Vampire Mommy Domme in a new video game was revealed was a billion and one references to Death by Snu Snu.
https://youtu.be/-Edv8Onsrgg Googling around it looks like 2011 was the last year that Britney had a #1 hit song, but it wasn’t this song. Any guesses what it was?
The Other Woman sounds like an adult movie for adults. How many adult movies for adults do you watch per year?
Right Here. Right now. What was the last big song that was optimistic about the world? Not just optimistic about the future of the song’s protagonsitc but optimistic about the world as a whole? https://youtu.be/MznHdJReoeo
